Smelting Iron Bars VS Steel Bars

Is it more efficient to make iron bars? or steel bars?

Iron Bars:
-Iron ore = 80gp
-Iron Bar = 220gp
220-80
= 140gp profit

Steel Bars:
-x2 coal (190gp each) = 380gp
-Iron ore = 80gp
380+80 = 460gp
Steel bar = 700gp
700-460 = 240gp profit

Ok but heres the thing, I can make 28 iron bars straight, but for steel bars, I can only make 10 at a time...

Is my theory correct? Iron bars are better?

 

you can only make 9 per trip of steel, but you get more exp i personally would recommend steel at port pharmys or however its spelled. its like 3 secs away.

 

I'm not looking for xp, Im looking for a more efficient way of money per/hour...

Do ten minutes making iron 10 minutes making steel whatever gives you more money then pick that one.

 

Iron bars also have a 60% to 80% forging rate, meaning you're only going to make up to 6 or 8 out of 10 iron bars.

I'd stick with iron bars, personally though.

 

I'm using a ring of forging = 100% forging rate.

 

I made 2,000 iron bars from the ores + used around 13 rings of forging, I sold them all for uh, I think 440K.

Took me around 4 hours.

 

i'd make steel then make those into cannonballs for max profit.. also use port phasmatys, you can take a ship there as long as you have ghost speak amulet on.

 

Iron are better money by far.

The time saved not banking give iron the edge.
Ring of forging is awesome.

 

Steel is better money if you smith at port phas, you also need to add in the costs of the ring of forgings as well.

 

Seeing as you are making iron bars with the RoF, you might as well do dwarf cannon and get the cannonball mould, as that would take profits through the roof.
