Fun Ranks

Now that we have fun mini-ranks can you guys convert the fun ranks to mini-ranks? Seems more appropriate.

 

fun ranks look better than mini ranks but you do have a point. I find mini ranks are slowly turning stupid/lame too.

 

The ranks next to post count are annoying as hell, and they don't have any description. They're just a little picture, I wouldn't even want one if I could get one. Support unless you can add a description when you hover over the fun rank.

 

This will destroy my dream of getting mudkip. Sorry, can not support.

 

Fun- and miniranks are just for friends of the staff. Haven't seen any random guy with one yet.

I think the appearance is fine.

 

I think that mini ranks are ment to show how much someone spends posting in each section more or less along with other ones.

 

If you hover the new mini-ranks say what they are, or do you mean a better description (e.g. requirement)?

I'm not exactly great friends of many staff yet and I don't even know who applied my mini-rank :noworry:

No, not yet. Apparently that is a while in the making

 

1k mod logs for a fun rank when I was staff, the quota for a market mod is mid 200ish.

At most you will get 50 mod logs a day and even that's pushing it, considering most achieve maybe 10-20 spam reports in a day, unless you're on all day then maybe you could achieve more.

You put in 20 days of work which benefits you in no way.

I personally wouldn't want it to become a mini rank unless the method to earn it involves the same amount of work to be put in as it currently does. Those who currently do have it have contributed a fair amount to the forums and most if not all do deserve their fun rank. If it does turn into a mini rank then we really have no need for ranks anyways, might as well turn donor statuses into mini ranks too.

No support. Fun Ranks are far harder to acquire and are more of an achievement. Let them be displayed as so.

 

Fun rank sounds much more fun than like mini fun rank that's like just.. Not as fun man you know? Besides I need mudkip and when I get it I want it to be like full fun u know?

Fun ranks should stay more rare and right where they are. However no new fun ranks should be made.

Also seriously drop all the cutesy bullshit with the miniranks ... fun ranks arent all cuddly animals (in fact none of them are, well ok mudkip is KINDA cuddly) why the fuck are the miniranks.

Are you saying that fun ranks are supposed to not be meaningless? They are, after all, fun ranks, and they are not supposed to increase someone's credibility or status. I understand how the "Competition Winner" rank was earned, but there are many other fun ranks that are pointless and would fit better as mini-ranks, such as Prince Yabobo, Nick, Zombie, Drunkard, etc.

 

I agree, they are pretty pointless and seem to be impossible for normal members to obtain.

 

Meaningless is the sense of exclusivity. They are supposed to be cool for exceptional members. We started handing out more of them for things and it became clear that everyone would have them if we continued on that trend. Mini-ranks will hopefully be for everyone while fun ranks will be reserved for the people who contribute a lot and shit (this is all subjective of course).

 

I see fun ranks as more of a thank you. If you look at the people who have them, it's because they have contributed more than a lot of people.
I've been on Sythe 3 years and spent pretty much all of my time in support helping people, I was then mod for 8 months. In all of that time I didn't get myself a fun rank. It was only after I resigned that n4n0 gave me the fun rank and said I deserved it for my hard work. I really appreciate the rank and although it's a "fun rank" it's a nice way to say thank you for people. If you point out the people who have a fun rank you can most of the time say how they helped.

 

Personally before I found out the reasons they were given them I thought to myself there pointless as hell why do they have them?

Then I found out and thought to myself I suppose the people who have them all are/were a big figure on the site and its only a bit of fun.

Why do people care about them? The only reason I can think of is jealousy.
