Am I the only one?

Who has nooo luck with finding things like diamond? I always end up with piles of coal and iron, but then I never find anything better. Eventually after I dig like 32,000 cubes up, I get pissed and just make a new world.

Does anyone else ever have luck with finding anything better?

IF you mean diamonds, they're usually near either water that's deep underground, or near big pools of settled (not running) lava. You have to mine around until you find an extensive cave system, and keep taking the paths that slant downward. Eventually, you'll hit lava pools, and they're sometimes around the walls, and surrounding corridors.

 

Yes I always find these caves, but I usually just end up with obsidian and occasionally some diamond.

I find that they're near obsidian (Water & lava areas). Deep underground.

 

should also try at <20 (on Y? I guess)... If not, you could always hit up the Compass Finder mod. ^_^

The one kid I played with literally found diamond like it was nothing... Said wherever there was (either) a lot of redstone/coal, would be diamond... Of course what he didn't know was that I had 10+ blocks of diamond already... lol >_>

 

Ew, xray mods defeat the whole purpose of survival mode lol

 

Not an xray mod. lol. Merely an assistant. It does not give you the exact location and you specify exactly what you're looking for (so if I needed redstone) + range (7blocks in all directions)... Plus it only works underground.

 

This exactly, why play minecraft and cheat? The game gets dull as it is.

Play legit and enjoy yourself while you can lol.

 

Because I usually play with other people... I don't normally play by myself. When you have everyone coming to you for materials, it's nice to be able to say sure I have that... Specially when diamond is the most valuable resource in the game. Plus you don't want to be spawning the stuff (as that truly would make the game boring), not to mention that I actually enjoy mining around... lol

Oh and I forgot to mention I NORMALLY had people stealing stuff from me (in the other server I played in)... So I ended up making multiple places where I could protect/hide that diamond/redstone/etc... So I needed quite a lot of it. :|

 

haha, I found 10 diamonds once for the first time ever, then fell into a pit of lava. After 5 mins of monitor punching and throwing things out the window including myself, I installed a mod and gave myself 64 Diamonds, went back to the same lava pit, equipped the Diamond in my hand and held my middle finger up to the pit in-game.

Anyway, they are there, just keep looking. They're very common around deep lava lakes right at the bottom of the map just above bedrock. If you use the lava lake option, it's more of a job of getting to the Diamond than finding it.

 

What is that thing, I think it appears if you press f5 or one of the f's. It looks like a heart monitor in a hospital, I have tried to figure out how to use it, does anyone know specifically what it does?

 

It's a ping monitor (I believe)... similar to what Counter-Strike Source's net_graph 3 looked like... Essentially that whole bar you're talking about is information being communicated between your computer & the server... At least if memory serves me.

 

This video helped me alot, I use this method a fair bit. Those layers that are shown in the video apparantly contain the most diamond.

 

Hmmm are you sure? Ive noticed that it seems to spike up or down when i look towards the ground, I think it has something to do with thickness of the ground or how many layers of blocks there are.

Actually, it's the performance graph of the current gameplay, notice what it looks like on the menu where it's low as fuck. Whereas when playing, it goes up and down, it is the performance of how smooth Minecraft is running.

 

For some reason, I always find redstone before coal... No clue why, lol.
Diamonds is no problem though. Well they are rare, but it's not like it's impossible. I have my own methods.

I hardly use gold for anything, if it's there I just collect it and it shove it in my chest and leave it there. I know you can make tools out of it and such but they are nothing compared to Diamond.
