Just a few things I made, attempting a decent looking caustic material..

While you're telling me how badly I did these, will you please give me an idea or two of what I should attempt to model? I'll post whatever you suggest on this thread..

    Thanks:]

This section is for showing off your photoshop skills (>.>).

What did you make that in?

What you should work on is lighting as lighting plays a big part in how good the model looks in the final render.

Try modeling a handgun, soda can, lightsaber, etc. Thoes are all fairly simple.

And here I am thinking that it's for showing off your GRAPHICS work and ability... you're not limited to the program you use.

I was just showing the dilemma I had when wanted to post my 3d model. Wasn't sure where to put it because of that description (which should be changed). I thought I might get infracted.

    Aight, all good...

On topic of the 3d rendering, I don't know if it's avoidable but there is quite visible pixilation around the edges of your objects - these would probably benefit by being cleaner cut and executed a bit smoother. With the first one, the reflection and lighting looks highly unrealistic... I'm not sure exactly what's being shown on each face, but it doesn't look very plausible.

Oh that's just because it's rendered as a draft, and I could probably make more segments in the rings to smooth it out. I'm too impatient to wait for a final rendering haha.

About the reflection, they're transparent so the reflection-like images on the faces are all the other rings inside.

Blindkilla, 3DS MAX, and I think I'll try the light saber! Haha I've done a soda bottle before, not sure if that counts;]

Ah 3dsmax, I've never liked that one. I used Cinema4d.
That bottle actually isn't bad, I really like the glass.

Graphics are not limited to photoshop..

On subject, I think bullets are good starters in 3d, that or wine glasses. Every website that has to do with 3d seems to have a wineglass tutorial.

    Here's that lightsaber, blindkilla

I'm actually pretty proud of how this came out... I had to photoshop in the white on the table by dodging it because I didn't know how to make glowing effects reflect.. but you get the gist.

Shane: Yeah I've played with bottle making, all that lathe stuff, it's pretty fun to mess around with.

Model is pretty pro, but once again the lighting and textures are your downfall.
