It doesn't matter that we are more developed, because if we can still trace our roots back to animals, we are in fact animals. Just because a rock gets crushed under a hammer, does it not mean that it is still a rock? If all the animals lived longer then we would see them grieve, also.

I don't see the death of anything a huge importance, as long as it doesn't wipe the species out. Death happens, along with birth. I believe the main point of survival is to ensure the race goes onward in life, in which they gain better things to live on (like humans develop medicines, good and bad). However, i don't see why people should feel sorry for people they do not know. Is it possible to feel pain when you have no pain to feel?
