How to change the APN on your iPhone​

A basic definition of an APN for those unfamiliar with the term is Access Point Name, which basically identifies an IP network which mobile users want to connect to.

Firstly, you must be asking, well, why would you do this?
And the answer is simple, these are hard times, and if you don’t have an unlimited data plan, your phone may be haemorrhaging money from your bank account via data charges, push notifications being one of the main culprits.

Step 1:
Open up safari on your iPhone, and in the address bar type: www.unlockit.co.nz

Step 2:
Click continue on the first screen and on the second click “Disable data (FakeAPN)”

Step 3:
An install profile screen will open and all you have to do is tap install.

And it's as simple as that!​

N.B. You can remove this profile at any time by:
Settings > General > Profile > Remove

benefits of having a fake apn?

 

With a fake APN, you are 100% sure that your phone isn't using cellular data. But this is kind of obsolete now that you have the option to turn everything on or off in the iPhone settings.

 

Interesting concept I must admit, and simple enough to do.
