    Memory problems?

So I'm trying to open either photoshop or 3DS MAX, and neither of them will open. Photoshop will go through the splashscreen process, but won't open the actual program. 3ds max just flat won't open. Both will show up in Processes when I CTRL-Shift-Esc, but their memory usage will just sit static. Photoshop will just sit at 180K, and 3DS MAX will set at 10K.

What should I do to fix this?

    Memory problems?

Moh looking at all these threads I think your computer hates you :/

There's no reason they won't open as your RAM is fine now (although they would have opened when capped at 4GB anyway).

    Are all Windows updates installed?

    Could be a virus imo.

    Memory problems?

The operating system is freshly installed, the harddrive is brand new, and all I've downloaded has been essential (and legit) software such as AVG, notepad++, skype, ccleaner, adobe, flash and shockwave players, etc.

So I got photoshop to open, but 3ds max still doesn't. It only allocates 10K memory to it then stops, never even makes it to the splashscreen..

Did you update all the drivers?

Yes, all drivers are updated. Windows is entirely up to date, I had a PCI driver that was missing, and fixing that is what fixed photoshop. But still, 3DS max doesn't work.

Hate to sound like an asshole for saying and im sure you would have. Have you tried ending the processes, shutting the computer off and restarting? As I said im sure you have, I have just had the same problem in the past with Firefox and all it took was to end the process and re-open. Don't hate <3<3

It happens when you do not shut down photoshop properly.

What fixed it for me was ending the process of photoshop and starting a new task with it.

To both of you, yeah, I've tried restarting, manually updating windows, ending the process and the process tree and starting again, running as administrator, etc and soforth.

I DID get photoshop to work by installing a PCI driver, so that works fine. It's just 3ds max that doesn't do anything now

I know you mentioned it's a fresh install but have you tried un-installing 3ds and deleting all associated files then run a fresh install? You seem quite tech savvy so i'm sorry if im pointing out the obvious.

Yes, I've tried several versions of the program as well, 2014, 2011, AND 2010. Yeah they're pirated, but I've never had a problem with running them on previous machines, which leads me to believe it's a problem with the machine, not the program
