Hey Sythe Members

I'm here to ask your opinions about Odd Future and specific people within the group​

I've been listening to them since i heard about them. The group formed in a neighborhood an hour away from where i was raised and still live.

My favorite rapper in the group is definitely Earl. And now that he is back from Samoa I can't wait to hear his new flows.
I also like Tyler of course. Domo Genesis and Hodgy. Honestly all of the members of the group, in my opinion, have incredible skill.

Domo is kind of sub par. Taco is just terrible.

Tyler is pretty annoying. His Wu-Tang disses were just infantile.

Hodgy/Mike G/Frank Ocean/Syd/Left Brain are interesting. I like some of the OF side projects like the internet/jet age of tomorrow/mellowhype

OF fans are mostly just wannabe hipsters, shitty skaters, and punk/screamo kids.

Tyler's whole M.O. seems to be "I don't give a fuck about anything" but it's manifestly untrue. He throws bitchfits all the time about insignificant shit.

 

I think their quite good, childish attitude.
Tyler is so so, good on some songs, a bit stupid on some.
Earl is pure genius imo.
Hodgy + Mike G are alright on some projects, but most of them are so so

Taco isn't a rapper he is like the hype man... and if by Taco you meant Jasper (Jasper Dolphin), then ya, he does rap, but for more of a comedic point haha. Agreed with the side projects, especially Mellowhype!! I am not a follower or hipster or skater even haha. I'm a 20 year old white kid that works and goes to school :/

I think with their adoption into the "mainstream" their childish antics will fade away.

 

I think they're all just a terrible group.
Don't like any of their music, and they just seem to do stupid shit for fun. I also absolutely hate all of the OF fanboys that write OFWGKTA on their backpacks/hats and think they're the shit.

I also dislike how Tyler pretty much made Supreme go mainstream now.

But, if anyone knows any actual good songs by any members of the group, please tell me them, because I would be open to give them a chance.

 

If I'm being honest, I think their music is really mediocre... I think Tylers a clown & isn't anything special. Earl is talented lyrically, but his delivery is monotone as fuck--which makes him sound boring... Frank Ocean is good. The rest of them aren't even worth mentioning, tbh.

 

I think they are good if you don't take them seriously. Frank Ocean is the shit though.

i think what draws people to tyler is don't give a fuck nature. his fanbase are mostly white suburban teenagers who think it's edgy and rebellious and shit. kids love his mantra's, tyler's something different and most of his fans had not come across shit like it before. i like it, i like what he's about.

earl is dope. his verse in oldie was rad as fuck. the production on Earl was pre average but the lyrical content, especially for a 15 year old was crazy good. looking forward to his next project.

mellowhype is aight but i'm not into the dark sounding shit a whole bunch. hodgy has a natural, nice flow and he's getting better as per his latest EP. i reckon he could make something out of himself. left brain is an ok producer, has a bit to go yet.

franky ocean has got tight pipes. he just seems different to the rest of the group and in terms of longevity, i think he'll have a better career than the rest of the posse.

mike g and domo, sound kinda generic. nothing to rave over imo. domo is a typical weed rapper. mike g just hasnt come through.

most of the fans id say fuck with OF because they can relate to the fact they are teenagers too, and some can empathize with the feelings a few of the members illustrate. others just riding the hype and others just like the edgy feel and don't care attitude. overall its just something different, allgoods in my book.

 

I agree with the fanboys part. I've listened to them for a good while now and still don't own or rep any OF gear or shit... Supreme hats and clothes are rad though... and i would actually wear a hat.. but not because Tyler does.. common.. as for songs i can help there, ( Keep in mind i like Earl )

Thanks SO much for your great comment. We are pretty much on the same page haha. I'm drawn to tyler and earl more because of their lyrical spitting abilities... the literary devices they use are crazy as fuck!!! I feel like i'm in highschool english class all over again >_<

 

I like em, and I like what they stand for. They have a lot of potential, but they've got fame now too, so they'll have to be careful not to let that shit go to their heads. Too many good artists get ruined by fame and money.

JohnK summed up their talents pretty well, and I agree with the part about mike g. From what I remember off of Radical and Bastard, he's got a few decent songs.

I've been listening to OF since around early 2011. My friend introduced me to them, and right off the bat I was hooked. The fans of OF are what really piss me off though.. It's all of the wannabe ghetto white kids who want to look cool. Tyler has ridiculous metaphors, and tons of paradoxes which is something that's rare to see nowadays. Earl is crazy talented. He's so young, and his early shit was so dope. Hodgy and Left Brain are damn good with their MellowHype stuff. Taco is obviously just a hype man like you said, he's fucking funny though. Jasper as well, he's one goofy mother fucker. Frank Ocean seems like he's going to go a lot further if you look at the mainstream point of view. He's more of the radio type imo. Which is in no way shape or form a bad thing, there's still some music on the radio that's good. Can't leave Syd out, she can make some hot ass beats, clap. Hah, I've also been watching Loiter Squad, and that show is a hit or miss. They've got some funny fucking episodes, but some I'm disappointed with. Some members of OF have a ways to go, but they ALL have talent. By far one of the most unique and talented groups of all time imo.
