Mediocre staff

Okay, I'm sure this is not the thing that people want to hear, and I'm welcoming your flames, but in my personal opinion, i don't think that the staff (as a whole) are very helpful. They never respond to Pm's and are never around sythe. I'm seeing people with mod positions that I've never heard of before. I don't know what mods do around here, because i read every section of the black market and there are no mods that are active besides, of course, Spyike. He's the most active moderator in my opinion, and he's currently moving! I am just looking to know what the staff of the site is supposed to do, and I'm not trying to pick out anyone or everyone, just a simple question. Don't anyone take this personally.

 

What are they supposed to do? Moderate.

This is the first time in probably over a year where every single staff member has fulfilled their Moderator log quota.

Well I like our staff. Finn is awsome, Spyike is great, Pen is active, Sythe is epic, Nick is elite and the others are good aswell.

Every time a mod preforms a moderator action, IE moving/locking/etc. is a moderator log.

And how can you say they don't respond to PM's, you're grouping the small amount of mods you PM'd with all of them. I've never received a PM from you, so you can't just group us all in with the 2-3 you probably PM'd.

 

A moderator log is a numerical figure representing an action made by a staff member.

For example, an 'action' could be:

- locking a thread
- deleting a thread
- copying a thread
- deleting a post
- editing a post
- etc.

If I locked ten threads made by ban evaders, for example, I'd garner 10 modlogs. In this respect, activity of staff is represented by the number of modlogs they receive per month, which is assessed by myself. We do not allow inactive staff members who fail to complete the quota to remain -- they will be demoted. This month has been a particularly fine one for activity and moderator logs, so your claims of mediocrity seem somewhat unfounded.

 

I admit the vast majority of my time is spent there, but i also check out other sections. I'm not interested in the coding sections, because i only have a minuscule knowledge of VB, and i don't play any other games online besides Runescape. I also browse the U.E. section, but there's no point in posting any guides because the only two things i have above-typical sythe user skill at is CoD and Runescape, both of which i've made guides about, but won't get me u.e, or really help out much.

EDIT - just read the two posts above me. Thanks, i see what the issue was, I'm basing my opinion on all of the administrative community based on a few bad experiences, and i apologize to the mods who I've never dealt with or those who do their jobs "in the shadows."

Sigh. Yesterday I processed 40 spam reports, but because I just locked/delete about 50 threads in the market without responding or bumping them, people claim we're inactive. If only you knew...

Also: Do NOT send the same PM to 5 moderators. We'll just assume someone else handled it.

 

I think you are somewhat overeacting.

I disagree, they are active around sythe, and if they wasn't they would be demoted, and regarding the PM thing you are only limitating the ones you have PMed, and remember they do get probably a lot of PMs a day, so it would be difficult for them to actually read every single one of them, straight away.
You can't really judge on people who you haven't even heard of before, since you joined last month, unless you have another account.
I think the staff are chosen well, and some are more active then others, but still the are all active.

You're unaware that when moderators come to sythe, they don't have time to post. They're taking care of moderating jobs like spam, scams, etc.

Also, you've never heard of these people because you've hardly spent any time on sythe.

 

I don't agree at all. All moderators/administrators I've talked to (Finn, Verts, etc.) have responded immediately. I know that they are all busy and active. If one of the staff was to be inactive, they'd be demoted. Remember, moderators are very busy, so if they can't get to your Private Message right away, don't fret. They will. Although some moderators are more active than others, overall, they are all doing great.

 

You've just joined Sythe... you don't deserve to say that.

 

I'd rather be a very active new member than a years old member with 3 posts/day.

 

The point is, you hardly have the right to say moderators don't answer PM's when you have barely pm'd any of us (I know I never received one from you). As well, you can't base every moderators activity by their post counts. As Finn pointed out, this was the first month in a long time that every moderator filled their mod log quota, which is a very good thing. Finally, as a new member, it's impossible for you to say "I'm seeing people with mod positions that I've never heard of before," because EVERY mod you see is new to you, as you're a new user.

 

You need to move out of the Black market section, and start to post in new areas around Sythe. I'm assuming you've never owned a forum or have ever been staff on one, if you have, you'd know that just because the mods aren't as post active as others, doesn't mean they're not active at all.

And i have been moderators in-game, never on the forum itself. I do post in other sections, i just am more into reading than i am into posting. If it was view count we'd be set:3
