~ Beginner Author here, Looking for Advice and Idea, PLEASE Take a moment to read. ~

Hello. I am a Beginner author, I have been writing stories for as long As I can remember. I was allways a Fan of Star Wars and later Halo, being that both stories were science fiction and had alot to do with future wars and Space.

But one day, I found someone that pushed me far enough to start a book. This man encouraged me to begin writing again, He got me thinking.

His name is Justin Stebbins, and he has his own website, www.saber-scorpion.com He is a A+ Lego builder, a fantastic Fan-Fiction writer and a master at drawing (From my perspective)

This is the one genre I right about, and that is SF (Science Fiction) because that is the only thing I like.

BEFORE I continue my post, YES, I am ibuyandsellpins. I thank the few people that posted on my other thread, and I said I would revamp it so, here it is.




My story starts out on Earth or a human-colonized planet. There is then a suddon un-decided thing that causes almost all of the colonies to be destoyed, and a Lone ship, named The Movement to make a blind jump into space.

I have not decided what happens now, wether I start it while they are still in 'Sub Space, Hyperspeed, Jump space, zero space, Whatever you want to call it' Or if I should start it at a planet they come out on.

Now, it is YOUR Turn to help me out. I have a small questionaire if You would like to take your time and answer a few. YOU DONT HAVE TO ANSWER THEM ALL!!!

Below is the list of things I am inquiring about...

1. What year do you think Humans will take a leap into space? Meaning, when do you think we will begin exploring beyond Mars in MANNED Shuttles, and when we will colonize on other planets. I am looking for a DATE here, such as Year 2084 For example.

2. What are some reasons YOU Think a Space War (A war in space with space SHIPS... and guns and stuff) would happen? Possibly land disputes? Money? Power over the government? Or do you think it is for reasons OFF of Earth, maybe for ownership of a newly discovered planet? You tell me.

3. Do you have a few name you could think of for a Main Character or a villan? Maybe just one, but I am a terrible name maker and Thats a crucial thing I need help with.

4. Any Ideas for Planet features or objects such as a 'Halo' or a Ringworld? Possibly a World where you can go INSIDE The core? This is also an important topic.

5. Any story line ideas or places I could mention? Anything I should include in the book?

6. And do you have a name you owuld like me to add in my book? I am NOT Looking for a REAL Name, possibly just a nick name or something That I could include in the front of the book. THIS Is totally up to you.



FINALLY, I am looking for an Illistrater (IDK If I spelled that right ) There are only a few things I need you to do if you would be so kind. But please, I am looking for GOOD Artists, people who have studied art for more then a few years and practice it alot.

IF YOU DO Want to Draw for me, I would need you to do the following things

* Draw a COVER Design for me
* Draw a Chapter header for me, THIS Will be IN PENCIL or CHARCOAL ONLY!

AND, If you want to do this, I need you to have access to a scanner and be able to Email it to me. I will NOT Accept ANY Pictures over MSN.

Make your post like > 20 words and I'd read it. Seriously, no one is going to read something that long.

 

Okay, so, advice.

This isn't trying to be mean, at all, don't think that. But I'm not sure of your age, but judging by the random capitol letters, strange use of grammar, easy spelling mistakes, etc., I'd guess you aren't out of high school yet.

If I were you I'd wait until after high school, take college courses that can help you with your writing, most offer Creative Writing classes and the such.

Now if you really are interested in taking on a huge project like this and writing it down, change your idea. Science fiction theme, great. Humans in space at war, great. But when you start to make it sound that much like Halo already I start to get bored.

It's hard to ask other people for advice on what you should include in your book over the internet. This is your project, and even though we may have a few ideas here and there, ultimately it is still all you who has to decide on every last detail. So instead of asking us, ask yourself and make it your own. Everyone gets writers block, it goes away eventually.
