Is this being denied purely because staff are too lazy?

 

It's been debated before and the general idea is that the staff don't want all ban reasons public so we aren't going to make the effort to make some of them visible.

 

Surely it'd inform users and encourage them not to rule break as 'this could happen to you' sorta thing.

 

I agree Heeatz. I feel that displaying it would knock some reality in those people that are breaking that rule; the very sight of someone doing what you are doing being banned would certainly have an impact on future actions.

 

The idea of being banned should be enough of an encouragement for users to not break the rules to be honest.

I mean it could be coded I guess for the ban reason to be displayed on their profile or something but finding out on the Where did _ go? thread or just asking a mod is easy enough.

 

Couldn't you just make another sticky about everyone whos been banned and then have a breif description on why they were banned?

E.G Pker5599 - Scamming.

And juts hyperlink that sticky into the banned thing, like one would do on a signature?

It would take time to go through everyone whos been banned but we already have the ability to hyperlink stuff?

 

If they're banned, don't trade with them...

Thats not the problem, because he said he was banned because he couldn't prove his identity, there should be something in the forums saying so.

But yeah it speaks for itself, don't trade with someone who's banned;-)

 

Its nothing to do with not trading with them. It's be nice to see the reasoning behind it. Also i do believe it will knock the reality of banning into people... SUPPORT THIS!

It would take waaaaaay too long to do this for every user that gets banned considering there are heaps of scam reports each day.

 

Maybe they could add a reasoning underneath the banned rank thing?

 

Yeah that's only the " notable Sythe user " what makes someone notable though?

Or maybe instead of their icon saying Baned it could say possibly the following; scammer, ban evader etc etc.

Because I find it intresting when people get baned and I can't find anything to see why their baned, ( e.g Karl )

If you'd checked the Where did [name here] go? thread you'd have seen multiple times that karl owes money. Majority of the users people are curious about have been answered in that thread and moderators usually browse it so see if they can help out.

 

Ban reason's don't need to be public. If you want you can ask around.
No one is gonna take the time to make a sticky and put EVERY ban into there.

 

There are other ways.. Look at HF, they have a bans.php page where it lists the bans. This plugin would be simple to make and could be a donor only feature.

 

That's why we don't use a plugin like that.
