is 99 smithing worth it?

50k per hour for magic
15-17k per hour for smithing

Do you think it's worth it?

I'm getting the bars by superheating.

I'm f2p

I intend to use steel bars only.
Make steel bars into steel legs
Alch steel legs so I make a heaps smaller loss.

My cash pile to get this is about 49m

And I want atleast 30m back by 94/99 magic.

 

that's a really slow way to do it.. but I guess it'd be worth it.
A better way would be to superheat the bars for magic levels then make cannonballs for smith xp/profit.
but you'd need p2p

Looking on the Official forums would give you a good estimate on how much they are. Will you be botting it? I personally love the smithing cape

 

Smithing for F2P is generally not worth the effort. You can make money by smelting/superheating ores into bars. However, I'm not exactly sure of the exact profit for superheating/smelting.


Making canonballs is extremely slow. I believe you get around 18k xp/hr (It's been a long time since I did this). You use to make around 500k/hr with this, not sure of the price now

 

CannonBalls Is Even Slower.

i suggest to you to keep going as you are doing because in the end you will end up with 2 99s magic and smithing and as you stated you will not have a lot of loss

edit : just read the title and i thought of why im getting 99 smithing as well ...
when you get p2p you can get pro and fast teams just for having high skills and 99 smithing is one of the skills which is most needed in dung.

 

So your saying I should continue to:

Superheat ore into steelbars
Smith bars into legs
alch legs

and continue?????

Im currently making a miner so im not paying to buy iron, but until then ill be paying :S.

The miner has 40 ish mining atm =]

Should i just powermine until 70-80 then start mining coal and storing it? or start banking iron from 41?

Smithing on f2p is not worth it anymore, since you'd lose by making Rune items, e.g. platebodies.

Id say do superheat untill you 99 mage, then complete /w addy bars - addy plates.

 

or you can superheat steel bars, i think you still make a profit with them.

 

One thing i see about 99 smith is that you can smith promethium items dung for profit only.

99 Smithing is only worth it if you 'farm' the resources needed yourself. If you simply buy rune bars at 99 Smithing, and decide to make full rune, you're most definitely going to lose money.

 

all 99's are worth having. i smelted gold ore with goldsmith gaunts.
