    Malwarebytes Anti-virus Program

I just installed Malwarebytes and In my taskbar it shows a Red Shield saying that I don't have anti virus software protecting me.

Malwarebytes does not come up as protecting me.

What should I do? I am currently running a scan. Should i install another anti-virus program along with?

I've already used a free trial of AVG, what else is there? - I don't think i can use it again for free.

I personally hate Avast! because it is very annoying.

    Search and Destroy,
Adaware - don't like this as much,
McAfee - don't know if this is free but I hear it's good
    AVG - What I use.

I agree, Blink Enterprise will Guarantee you $1,000,000(USD) that your system will stay 100% Virus Free.

I highly doubt AVG will offer you 1mil irl monies if your system is under attack.
I don't think I've ever seen another security provider work that freaking diligently to prevent 0day attacks/*.dll hijacks.

It's like it's their freakin life purpose.

    Hello,

You mention you have used the free trial of AVG? There are 2 options for AVG : You can have 30 days free trial of a paid AVG software OR you can download the free version of AVG.

    AVG Free Version : Download

A better solution than AVG is Microsoft Security Essentials, and it's completely free. I really don't know why it isn't just bundled with Windows. Do some research, you'll find it's often preferred over AVG by IT professionals. The reason Windows is telling you that you have no anti-virus installed is because Malwarebytes is a run-when-needed tool, not a real-time scanner. It's to be used when you know or suspect that you're already infected.

I found MSE to really slow down my system.

That's what most people say about AVG, and the exact opposite of what most say about MSE.

Malware Bytes is an antivirus program >.>...
It's just not a "real time" antivirus unless you have the full paid version of it.

The one I used to use though was AVG 9.0... it's free to DL and you can activate the full version with a common serial that can be found in many a place :)

Better than all of above. And once the thing runs out, it only stops updating but it continues to run.

Malwarebytes is an on-demand scanner, meaning it isn't running 24/7 and checking your system. Malwarebytes should only be used if you want to check if your pc is really clean or if you know you have malicious software.

Other than that, for 24/7 protection, smart security NOD32 from eset is guarenteed the best one out there.
