So I finally settled down and decided on a laptop. I paid $1315 after taxes.

Basically, What do you all think?

I think I did pretty well considering the cost.

500GB 7200rpm drive, (I have a 4TB dual bay external, so space isn't an issue)

all that good shit.


Plays Crysis 2 on max, only when it's plugged in though. Otherwise I get about 25-35 fps on battery alone.
Still playable on battery, but barely.

Taxes? Good reason to buy from NewEgg imo haha (no taxes). Not a bad laptop though, hope you enjoy it. Hate the way it looks though personally.. thing looks massive (thick as hell too judging by the pictures)

 

I didn't have time to wait for shipping. I'm very pleased with it and an enjoying it very much. 17.3 inch though so it's big and heavy.

 

Does the weight bother you? Personally I'm not the kind of person to lug around a laptop at public places or anything.

It does actually, I've considered returning it for a smaller laptop. I also considered the fact that I'm just getting used to it so maybe in time it won't matter. I have 12 days left to decide what I want to do. It makes up for the weight in terms of power. It's pretty intense.

Shouldn't you be able to turn off power saving?

 

Yeah but I didn't. The battery only lasts about 2 hours as it is. I need to get an extended or another one, but at over 150 a pop I don't think I wanna get one any time soon.

 

You should be able to control the processor speed cut, so you could probably tweak it to get consistent 30+ frame rates without much battery loss.

 

Just edited the settings. Will check out how it influences batter life

 

Solid laptop, only thing that's a bit low is the hard drive.

 

I have an external. I don't need anything in there really.
