Suggestion: Simba Rank

Hello there,

I wanted to suggest a new rank, the Simba Programmer rank.

I don't know how rank suggestion is supposed to be done, or who is supposed to make the file, but I have made one here already if that is okay:

Please do consider making this a rank, I mean if SCAR Programmer is already there, why not also have a Simba one as well?

I am not requesting that myself or others get this rank, just suggesting that it should be created.

I have mixed feelings.. It'd benefit alot of people simply for marketing purposes, and of course, it's "conflict" with another forum.. It's like putting Sythe.org OMM on Simba forums. But, on the other hand, what does it hurt? I have mixed feelings about it. My one question though.. What's the purpose of it? Is there anything that is benefited from it? I know it's in the same category as Java & such, but this is much more specific.. Since it's a forum, not a language.

I hope to see other people's opinions on it soon.

 

Well, the SCAR rank exists, which is also another forum.
SCAR/Simba forums both do not directly compete with Sythe at all, they are primarily programming forums, while Sythe is a primarily black market forum.

The rank is to indicate people who are competent with scripting.

No huge purpose/benefit but if the SCAR one exists and has existed forever (along with the other programming ranks Java, VB, PHP, SCAR) then why not add this one to the bunch?

Simba is not the forum, SRL/Villavu would be the name of the forums.

Simba/SCAR are not the language, just the name for the compiler.

In fact, the Simba/SCAR Programmer ranks should just be 'merged' and called PASCAL PROGRAMMER rank, since that is the language used with both of them.

 

Support, if there is a scar programmer rank currently, there should definitely be a simba rank but it'd have to be given out very sparingly.

 

But you have to look at all those people who have the SCAR rank. I have been here a while and I have only seen it on two people I do believe. I see this more of an advertising tool than something that would be useful. I don't even know why we have the other programmer ranks - they serve really no purpose.

 

They are fun ranks, so essentially.. they're not meant to serve any purpose except show that someone is adequate enough to know the language(s)/software used.

I'd support this purely for the fact we have, I'd say.. a growing demographic of Simba users and scripters. adding this rank could be beneficial to the scripting community of the forum(s), including our own. After all, we both benefit from eachother, Simba scripters sell their scripts here whilst our users discuss the bot and its functionalities with RS cheating section, which leads them to visit villavu due to being interested.

Support - But I feel that someone with a more artistic touch (no offence! ) could possibly revamp the rank.

 

I would support this but how would people gain these?

Like would there be a test or something along the lines of that?

I know nothing about graphics and just whipped it up quickly. Grabbed the Simba logo and did what I could.

I'm not sure how you'd earn, how do people earn the other programming ranks?

Maybe if they just prove/show some of their script threads from SRL and some progress reports or something like that.

Also a Pascal Scripter rank could just take place since both Simba/SCAR are EXTREMELY similar and the language is Pascal.
(Except I bet not many people know/would understand when they saw Pascal though Simba/SCAR are more recognizable)

I am curious as to how these would be handed out, though i think that maybe it should set a precedent as to how ALL similar fun ranks are passed out.

 

I think we should avoid this subject for now, rather focus on the rank being implemented, as this will just push it into DNS areas.

 

We could have polls in which competent members of villavu can vote them in or out.
Or give the rank to people who obviously deserve it, and from then onwards they can vote others in as needed.
Not sure how it works around here :]?

I'm just saying members of Villavu because not sure how well the mods/admins here know pascal etc.

I don't think the rank should be given out to people for simply being a member of Villavu, although I support the rank itself being added seeing as we already have the SCAR programmer rank. I think it should be issued to people who are actually knowledgeable in the SIMBA language, makes more sense then.

I agree that the rank be revamped. I support mainly since SCAR is just not as popular nowadays.

As for the Pascal rank, I don't think many users will understand that SCAR/SIMBA use Pascal programming. So keeping the SIMBA/SCAR ranks separate should work better.

 

No support. Maybe combine Scar & Simba into one rank as the sections are rather than creating a separate rank.

I agree; having a separate rank for such a similar language is unnecessary.

 

I'm in support of this, despite me have never used Simba before. It only seems right to make a Simba if there is a SCAR, so it kind of balances the scale in a sense.

 

Then there should be a RSBot Scripter rank, considering RSBot is bigger than Simba and more people here use it.

 

That doesn't really have any relevance to Sythe.org though.
