I was considering partitioning my HDD and having a dual boot with Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.7 Lion or whatever, but I had a few concerns:

Are drivers next to impossible to find?

Will I lose any functionality other than the obvious changes from W7 to OSX?

I'm mainly wanting to switch for things like audio/video production btw, if it matters to anyone. Plus I'm gonna be working in the computer field, might as well familiarize myself.

Ok, first of all you need to make sure that your computer is ABLE to handle Mac OS X 10.7 -> Most windows computers are not. You need to make sure that your specs match up pretty close to those a mac, and then I believe you need to flash the BIOS to fit that Mac format.

As for audio/video production a windows can keep up, if not out-perform a Mac in Audio and Video production (this is my opinion). While Windows does not have garageband or final cut pro, we have other programs such as Adobe's Soundbooth and Premiere Pro. These programs can keep up - if not outperform the mac programs - The down side to them is that they are potentially more advanced than the programs mentioned for Mac.

I wouldn't go for it. The benefit you would gain from a hackintosh is not as big as the benefit of just buying some more ram and using Windows.

I have enough RAM for anything I'd want to do lol, RAM won't help me in getting programs that are only available on Mac OSX but thanks for the input I guess lol

Also, other guy, I've never heard about having to flash your BIOS :S can you link me or something?

I don't think you have to flash your BIOS, I'm pretty sure you just have to have a compatible motherboard/processor. The list of compatible components is pretty small, I'd advise googling for a list of them and see if yours matches up (unlikely >.>)

Well, it would appear none of my components are supported. Fail. Close I guess.

You could probably get a VM working (there's the obvious performance cut though)

Meh, not worth the performance cut imo. Thanks for the suggestion though :)

Out of curiosity, what software did you want to run? - If it's just one project, I could do it for you on my legit mac.

Most notably Garageband and Final Cut Pro. I'm going to be working in the field of computers, I figured I might as well familiarize myself with all the popular OS and programs. Who knows, I might wind up doing shit with it every day.
