Mac Address Spoofing

Hey guys, I've recently spoofed my Mac address and noticed a considerable slowing in my connection from 30ms to over 4000ms, I have my reasons for spoofing it, but I would like to know why my connection has slowed due to this and what can be done to avoid this (besides not spoofing it).
