Would it be possible to make a report option for phishers? for example if one- two people report a topic for the reason "phishing" the text should automatically get hidden so a mod can review it later.

Ofcourse there will be people that would try to abuse this. punishments on this should be a week ban for the first offence and a perm ban for the second.

    Pros:
Way lower chance to get phished
This would speed up the work for mods, Instead of editing all posts they would only have to check if it's a phishing link indeed

    Cons:
Not sure if sythe could handle it.
People could make new accounts just to get topics hidden (solution: high post count/donor only?)

    Optional idea:
if there can't be made an option for phishing topics there should be a Regular expression searching the report message for phish and then hides the post

I don't see it working to be honest. Let's say Billy has a great suggestion, but Bob and Joe dislike Billy and get the thread hidden. This would just cause more work for the mods having to check if there actually is a phish, then having to restore the thread.

Bob and Joe would get banned from sythe (for example having 100+ post count requirement would take the effort away)
and let's say 1/20 topics reported arent phishers but just real, legit topics.
Would only take 10 seconds of searching for a phishing link instead of editing every single phishing topic :)

Mods can't see edited threads so the thread would either need to be moved into awaiting approval, or deleted.
Don't see why it shouldn't be implemented, but could also be a pain.

How about when thread reaches a selected amount of "phish warnings" (set from forum CP), then the administrators (and moderators possibly) get a notification of a "suspicious thread" that should be checked. If the thread ain't "allowed" in the next 1 hour, it gets locked untill admin / moderator unlocks it.
This ensures that nobody can lock the thread instantly without moderator / administrator allowing it.

It could be a pain if the wrong settings would be set, for example post count reqs.
I don't think this would be abused alot. maybe just by people who scam and before they leave sythe they could report loads of topics for phishing.
This could be avoided however by setting the amount of unique reports received to two or three before the topic is automatically moved to waiting for approval

Great suggestion. Now that Free Trade/Wildy has been released, the number is phishers is ridiculous. The requirements may need to be tweaked though.

Should be 5 people instead of 2, but I 100% agree with this. If this is possible, it should be set in. Should be some other things to work in, but in general, this is an amazing idea.

Editing doesn't matter. For phishing and stuff, we usually do the spam reports based on the content that was in the spam report, not anything edited after it. The spam report gives an uneditable quote of the post.

    See this for example: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1040337.

Anyhow, I don't like the idea. Too complicated, and too easy to get abused.

There are alot of threads about this getting suggested, I think the best way is common sence, Or even wait till someone says its safe, or not.

I have to agree with KerokeroCola on this one. This method would be too complicated. Sorry.

This would be a neat update imo.
However, this should be only available to players who are either donors or have a high post count (500+ or so) so this wouldn't be abused.
I clicked a link like this once (foolishly), got infected, and it was a bitch to get rid of it.
Perhaps instead of it just hiding the thread/post, all online staff would get some type of notification about it?

Its a good idea to have increased link protection, but I dont think this exact idea would be a fix at all, too many complications that would come up with it.

Im sure with a whole Sythe community we could come up with something though.

Giving mod powers to normal members, not going to happen. However I have started to request censoring of each phishing link individually now.
