Anyone Heard Of RoM?

I've been playing this free MMO called RoM (Runes of Magic) for a while now and I found it so entertaining that I completely forgot about RuneSscape:laugh: There are some some debates over it claiming that it's a WoW clone but I've never played WoW so I couldn't tell you. Anyone on Sythe play RoM?

It is Free to Play but I'd say it's more like Pay to Win. :huh: What I mean by this is that you could play for months and reach the level cap without paying a penny OR you could spend real money and buy potions that give you double the xp you would originally earn from like a quest or kill. You can also buy other things like costumes, pets, mounts, etc. Well what do you think? It's not a really popular MMO. If you go on their forums there's only like 20 people on at a time and I've only seen one server (Artemis) ever been full.

Looks nice i would like to start a new MMo but i dont know why im feeling lazy to learn everything but i mite give a try

 

I'm going to try this out. It seems enough like WoW, and the no monthly payments are a big plus to me. If I like it I'll end up sinking a shit load into this though I'm sure.

 

If you are going to try it, let me warn you... it's a 6GB client so it will take a while to download... but installing takes forever!!! Took me 13 hours It will look like its updating in a loop over and over but it's really just installing patches. After the first time the game starts in seconds.

 

File space isn't a problem. Whenever it gets done I'll tell you how I like it. I really can't think of a name I want to use though. :\

 

ive tried it... wasnt that much fun. kind of like a souped up maplestory.

 

Hmm... never played maplestory :embar: What didn't you like about it? I'm only level 12/8 so I'm still a newb:laugh:

I've been looking at vids and they do look really similar. And apparently it's the same setup to lvl up. (quests) but no ginding. :love:

 

Well it's fully downloaded and installed. I'ma try to play a little bit later when I'm done burning these movies.

If there's some type of friend adding shit what's your name so I can add you? Or if you go in any type of Vent for it what's the info for that so I can come in and talk. xD

If you're going to play, start out on US-Govinda. Awesome server. Have a 33/26 Priest/Knight (switched my main primary to Priest, so much more DPS, lol), and am the Guildmaster of a level 5 guild (called Deathkittens) with a guild castle and ~20 Members.

RoM is actually really fun to play. It's free and it's almost exact to WoW (but free).

No, the quests are very balanced. Justs takes getting used to it

 

Haha, I finally got around to starting the game and you were right. It takes fucking forever to patch before you can play. xD Still patching as I type this.

 

I used to play that game for about 8 months It was pretty fun up until I hit end game as a m/p and go to find out that m/p is useless in any instance you will get out dps'ed by knights which before chapter 3 came out used to be the bottom of the barrel now any melee class equally geared as a same level mage will out dps it 2 fold.

I would suggest you quit before you actually dump any money into it and just wait till Lotro goes free play which should be soon.

 

OMG that's messed up....i mean sure you can rip some things from other games but this is a bit over the top.
