    Car Insurance Question

My whole family use Triple AAA Car Insurance.I don't have my own car insurance yet and have no car to drive. Since my parents and sisters have their own car and car insurance for their cars, could I drive their car? If I am in an accident and not at fault but do not have car insurance, do I have to pay for anything like a fine for not having car insurance or being at fault?

    The Location is from CA.

    Car Insurance Question

    You're fine.

The insurance is on the car not the person.

    Car Insurance Question

This^. That's why it is called car insurance, the car itself is insured for any damage. Doesn't matter who it belongs to really, you will be fine should you get in an accident.

    Car Insurance Question

If you're not at fault you should be perfectly fine, however, I would be sure to call up AAA and make sure if you are at fault it would be covered. Some companies require anybody who is going to be driving the car on the policy.

Also just fyi, if you ever do get car insurance and get in an accident that's not your fault DO NOT CALL YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY.

    Why?

And Car insurance is so confusing lol. I always thought that car insurance follows the driver and not the car

    Car Insurance Question

Well where i live the insurance is for a car AND the person
So basically if you drive someone elses car, you must have your name in the insurance pollicy. Otherwise insurance will not cover the damage to your car and will get back the money they payed out to the other (car) involved from you.

Best way would be to read the insurance pollicy that the car has.

    Car Insurance Question

    Read the insurance policy carefully.

Recently in the Australian Queensland Flood Crisis. There was a misunderstanding between the insurers and the clients. Some insurance plans covered "water damage" The clients took this under the assumption that it included "Flood damage" They are separate from each other and people are outraged because of their own stupidity.

Just be sure to read the insurance policy.

    Car Insurance Question

For the people saying you're fine it's car insurance not person insurance.
Your mum/dad pays the insurance not you! It's insured for them not you.
If you get into a crash an the car gets damaged then its YOUR FAULT not your mum and dads meaning YOU have to pay for it.

I'd suggest searching around and doing a bit of research before you decide on something actually. Maybe check out http://www.carinsurancequotes.net if you have some time. Hope that helps! :)

    Car Insurance Question

Buying car insurance is extremely recommended as it will keep you on the safe side, if you can't afford the car insurance then why not by a cheaper (but stable/new - so it doesn't break easily) car.

Also, I'm sure your parents would know if it was compulsary for you to have car insurance.
