Questions about obby mauler

So I recently started a obby mauler and I've just been wondering is it more viable in the wilderness to have a range/obby mauler or a slayer staff/obby mauler

And also how would you level slayer at being such a low level and how long does it usually take

Any recommendations are welcome or opinions

Range is better for comboing (e.g. MSB hits a 12) you just stack 2 hits at once which obviously puts you at a higher damage/chance to kill your enemy.

Slayer's staff is good because it has very decent strength bonus and no attack requirement but you can not combo with it.

It would be ideal if your mauler had both, range and the slayers staff. I don't think there are too many options to train slayer at such low level except the low level slayer masters.

It could take quite a while, depending on if you do it with melee and 1 attack or with ranged, up to 10-15 hours.

 

Alright thanks kush also what about prayer should I level that or just get to protect item?

 

As said above, range would be ideal, however if you was to get a slayer staff also, it widens your options as to pking styles, training would be easier with slayer staff, you could also even stake and win abit of cash against pures scimming as you have str and hp advantage.

 

Depends, at 1-80 strength I'd recommend staying 1 prayer to make sure you won't gain too many combat levels.

After 80 strength it's kinda worth getting prayer up to 31 to get both protect item aswell as ultimate strength (+15% strength).

If you want to PK without skull/when still having no protect item, just fight unskulled with 50-100k cash in your inventory. You'll keep that necklace aswell as the maul.

 

Get 13 Prayer, 50range and magic through slayer, whatever slayer level you'll get continue the training with melee use recoils obby maul and fury.
Use combat calculator to find out, at what range level you become ranged based account.

 

I would suggest range/maul. if you just want to get 60-70 str and pk, I would get only about 40-50 range max. 80+ strength, about 60 range.
