My runescape Story - Help me

With this short story, I would like to tell you my Runescape History. I hope some of you can help me with my current problem. Also, I would like to give your opinion on my thread. Thank you!

I started playing runescape in 2006. A friend of mine, who played runescape for 2 weeks, told me I should try it. I did, and I really liked the concept of the game (I was only 15 years old back then). I created my first account, trained some combat skills. As I played a bit a day, I gained some cash and I sold my full black armour for 20k! (Yes, there was no trade limit, etc.)

I trained more and more, I became member, I really had fun. After I got bored of training, I settled my character behind the bank of west varrock to merch. Santa hats and mask were only 300k, etc. I dont know if you guys remember, but it was fantastic. W1 was always full with 2000 players (now, 2PM 1050 players?) and merchanting was popular. Scamming was also popular, and I must admit, I did too. I bought full rune for 200gp etc.. (Yes, back then, when changing an amount of money no red flashing bullshit came up...).

When trade limit came, and the wildernis was deleted, I quit. I could not merch any longer, and that was the thing I loved about the game. After a while, I came back on rs (like so many?). I started to merch with the G.E, but it wasnt the same... I quit again.

When I heard about the free trade and wildernis, I came back, AGAIN. But again, I was dissapointed. Noobs were buying lobsters for 75gp ea? (UH, lobsters are 200gp?), etc. The game became different: no respect for old players, no respect for prices who were constant for more than 3 years, etc. I feel like the game is messed up, it isn't the same as in 2006-2007...

When I come online now, I just walk around for 5 minutes, I laugh with doubling money people, etc. Then I log off. I don't like it anymore.

Do you guys have any suggestions. Please comment on my story. Do you, as an old member, feel the same way?

I was about to flame you because I thought you were gonna be asking for money haha, sorry about that. Your story is very similar to mine. I've been playing this game basically since runescape classic was the only version. I loved the game and kept playing until they took away the wildy. Pking and being able to take peoples shit (luring too) is what sets runescape apart from all other mmorpgs.

Runescape is turning into "the ghetto" so to speak with scammers everywhere you look. Its kinda depressing because Camelot used to be thriving with fletchers and archery commerce and now its more like a ghost town...

So yes, to answer your question, I feel pretty much the same way. However with the RobotzInDisguise I have started botting my main because it claims undectability if you follow the guidelines. Yes RiD charges but you make your money back in gps anyway.

I just wanna max out my character so I can get back to luring (considering phats are worth over $1000 in real legal US tender). I would probably have a panic attack on my way back to bank that $1000 pixelated item.

I only play this game for the pking, although I used to be big on merchanting like you. The GE sucks but there are ways to take advantage of it.

I feel you man I was playing rs since 2002-2003 and I remember fishing lobsster for $ and when someone got a 99 it was a huge deal now it isn't cuz people are like phf... You botted that 99 and when I got my first full rune I was like nothing can stop me went pking in wildy and got koed..... Raged cuz it took me like 8hrs to earn that much $$.

 

Those were the days.

Actually fishing lobbies at karamja for money, then running back to the closest bank because you didn't want to waste money on the law runes. Then forgetting your 30gps to use the karamja boat, running back to the nearest bank and then to karamja again. Good times.

 

Haha yes, those were the times. Starting as a new player and searching on youtube for guides. Picking bananas at karamja...

I felt exactly the same when I came back a couple months ago. Even with 400m in my hands, I would log in, afk in the grand exchange for five minutes and realize that I couldn't be bothered so I would log off. About a month or two ago, I started a pure and that sparked my interest in Runescape again because it was something new and different but unfortunately, it was eventually locked so I was left with my main again. Try making a pure, maybe you'll find it fun.

I quit for a while after my pure was locked but about one week ago, I started playing on my main again. I mostly afked at first but I've recently started doing quests that I've always wanted to do (doing one small favour as we speak, long but still fun and rewarding), did some skilling (getting a huge xp drop from winemaking is hella fun imo), played some troll invasion (a lot more funner than bandits, experiments or whatever and its good xp), training magic (hati paws has made it easier) and when I'm feeling a bit tired of training/questing, I either pk, (anti)rush or kill bots/pkers at green dragons/revenants. You might not find any of this interesting but its what personally has kept me on Runescape for the past week. Maybe try flipping, luring, go pking with a team, antirushing or get a ring of vigour and do some double korasi rushing - from what I've seen it looks like fun.

I tend to keep to myself at the moment because the community has turned rather pitiful - most of the conversations I've had so far are of people asking me for money or trying to scam/lure me.

Basically in the position I am, but I still enjoy pking. Also I don't remember santa's being 300k in 2006, they were more around 18m?

 

The game turned like this for me after i started staking in 2006 and earned my first billion.
Then all the fun fade and all i did was login to chat.
Then i quit and restarted in 2009.
Played for more than a year and started staking again, got up to 10 bil and lost the fun again, sold the money and quit.

 

Haha yeah man, RS pre trade limit was better in everyway, PKing was actually PKing and not rushing or some bs.

 

I never had a billion, my max was 45M

 

Well i started in 2005 a friend of mine was lvl 88 back then and he told me that i should try so i started with + 6 friends (Our group at the time)

I remember first time i went to wilderness was on multi zone (Varrock side) and i attacked a mage and i was like screaming to my friend help help and he just kept picking the arrows from the ground and i died. Fun times.

So i had some fun i got 99 wc in 2007 etc. And in 2007 another 4-5 friends of mine started to play too.

From the 2005 group im the only one who plays at the moment. My friends from the 2007 group still playing.

I miss the old runescape yes. But the thing i miss the most is old BH with the 3 craters. THAT WAS FUCKING AMAZING
