Gf inflation merchanter

Okay well, as many of us know inflation has been happening on Runescape for a while now and it has driven up street prices for many items and has pissed many players off, such as myself, who sold there rares before the inflation began.

But i would like to say that the crash has begun.( finally?)

Whats will be the next item to fall? Nobody knows, i just can't wait for it to happen. I think the next item will be the royal crowns, since they're inflating a lot faster rate and abnormally.

 

You know, this could all just be because someone quit and dumped all their eggs in at min.

Do you have any SOLID proof?

 

To be honest.. who would pay 100m just to buy a Santa Hat for Christmas you know. I mean seriously. Rares are getting out of hand, sure they can be fast profit but man it won't last. I'm not saying it will be soon but eventually something will happen. I noticed that after easters have fallen, now people use masks, santas, and 3rd age to get partyhats. Unless you rwt them ofcourse. I don't keep track of this stuff all the time so feel free to correct me on anything. Just a quick add on.. It's next to impossible for a newcomer in the game to get a rare because of the prices.

 

I used to trade easters by the dozen through BH.... damn things have changed. Still have my middleman account (lvl 100 with high def for mid/high lvl), but I can't for the life of me recover it, know it has at least 5 eggs on it.

 

Easter egg have taken a big hit that is true. But guy's, this is discontinue items we are talking about.

No matter what happen. Rares will ALWAYS go up. You just can't deny it. I admit that rares will take a big hit and go down in value once in a while. But everybody knows that they are just going to rebound.

 

Rares are a long term investment. In the end they will always go up nothing will change that.

Because money is easier to make nowadays. A lot of people want a partyhat of course and now a lot of these people DO have the money to buy one. But...unfortunatly there arn't enough for everyone.

 

Yes, i don't think that one person can have so many easter eggs that if he sells them all at once for minimum it will effect the price of hundreds of eggs.

Due to 76kers and the high end pvp drops changed to statues, not items, which caused massive inflation.

They will always go up or they will be controlled by jagex, so they will inflate so high, like now, then there price will never change or will be force fluctuated downwards and upwards a lot. But the higher end rares, like partyhats and masks will keep on rising, i believe.

I think they ip track more now, so i suggest giving it another shot and it will match your ips from back then and now. That what happened to one of my recovered pures, i believe.

If i had the money i would buy rares. I tried to collect rares before the GE and trading update and after them. I got to my green h'ween mask, got bored of it sold it to keep investing and ended up losing most of my cash. That was back when they were around 14m ge price. And they were buy-able on the ge. Now if i had a huge amount of cash on my account i would buy a high end rare. Its a collector thing, plus its feels pretty good once you get it.

But i have to agree rares are getting out of hand, should be controlled more and i do feel bad for the legit players who can work years and never achieve a rare.

 

Reason why they begin to sky rocket was because of inflation, which is what this thread is talking about.

Because of the release of the new pvp system and drop system, players was able to easly get very expensive items with little to no work. Players who 75k back then was even able to get dragon fire shield. Since the game is releasing more and more of these very rare items, money is much more easyer to obtain. And everybody begin to have money, and with there easly obtained money, they bought rares such as easter egg, pumpkin, santa etc. This cause a massive demand in the market which help rise EVERYTHING in price.

Summary -

Back then with the new pvp system, players can kill other players for rare items like dragonfire shield, with little to no effort. Since more players are able to easly get money by this, they begin to buy out rare items with little effort. Causing a massive increase in demand then supply. Resulting in a increase of price to almost everything.

 

Actually... if you think about it someone could have. If they bought a lot of easters back when they were very low in the GE. (5-10M each) and they had a decent amount of money. They could have enough easters to cause a serious dent. But then of course if this was the case, I think easters would recover soon.

 

By the way, to people who say, "WHy would some one want to spend 100M on santa hat etc?".

You have no idea how much people are willing to spend on these rares. Im pretty sure it safe to say that nobody or atleast almost nobody, buy's rares just for the fun of it. There is always a intention of making money in the end. I am willing to spend 100 million on santa hat, as long as they increase by 2 - 4 million every day.

Discontinue items are the ultimate merchanting items, so why wouldn't people spend 100m on a increasing santa hat.

 

Good point. People think that they might as well do something with their spare cash instead of letting it rot away in the bank.

I mean the people who just want rares to wear. There HAS to be some people who like rares for the looks of it. I buy all my rares for the profit. I don't know anyone who doesn't to be honest. But I do understand all of this. I just didn't at first. I was greedy when Santas hit 120m (before they took a downfall) I had two of them and bought them both at 50m. I just wanted more and more profits. But I stuck to them until now and I recently sold them. I'll get back into rares when the next double xp week comes then I'll buy them back for less. That's my plan at least.

 

Only way it can is if Jagex releases a lame update to do so.

santas have also now fallen along with eggs. we also have green and blue h'ween struggling to keep rising they should all crash.
once then start falling they will have some little rises, but not as much as we have seen now because people will be more aware of the potential loss in the items and will have less confidence.

ahhh but if only purple phat could be at 80m again ^^

 

I saw recently that Red Phat sold for below max awhile ago. It updated only about 500k. It didn't last too long though. I wasn't expecting it to anyways. I wonder what happened.

 

How is this a "GF" to the merchant?
