    Jagex locking Runescape accounts

    Hi,
Not sure if anyone notice, but recently jagex started to take account security more seriously. If you re-sell account chances are account will get locked. This has a big impact on my bussiness, had to refund many clients. However if account is yours its fine. Any opinions about that? Discuss

I think it's a nice step forward on Jagex's side.
and something not very advantageous for the minority

Tbh I think that if your accounts are getting locked after being sold, most likely you or the customer has outright admitted to buying/selling the account. There is no way Jagex can prove that the account was bought and sold as they have no proof that any payment was made for the account. For all they know, gp transfer could have just been swapping (which is actually NOT against the rules iirc).

Iirc account sharing is also not bannable. Otherwise 99% of accounts being sold/transferred for renting/services would already be banned. Its easy for Jagex to see what ip an account is connecting from and if it differs from the usual ip addresses.

So tbh i think its just either you or your customers outright admitting to buying accounts in-game via chat (yes Jagex can track your account chat interactions). But all this is just my opinion :p Keen to hear what others opinions are

As far as i tried to experiment, it could have something to do with email changing, i sold one with email account ( only one email change for account) and customer did not contacted me regarding any issues. They don't get banned , they get locked, but most of the original owner are unable to unlock it if they dont have 100% accurate information. But for the most part its about different ip addreses from random countries. If account keeps changing hands, it will get locked almost certainly.

Email changing shouldnt have an effect at all, if an owner wants to change emails of the account as many times as he/she wants, Jagex will most likely let them do so and it shouldnt raise any flags. Also if a constant changing of ip is what leads to accounts being locked then im pretty sure there wouldnt be a market for renting maxed staking mains as having to unlock them so many times would just be too much of a hassle. The top renters could be renting out many of their maxed stakers to many people over the course of just 1 week and face no such issue, so i doubt thats the reason as well :/

    1) Account sharing IS bannable, but they won't take action unless you're openly discussing it in-game. Streamers can even stream account-sharing without fear of a ban. Just don't type anything IN-GAME.

    2) You're most likely getting banned due to IP changes and not getting new IPs frequently enough. The account-sharing scapegoat will only protect you for so long. However, if you've sold 1000 accounts off your home IP, eventually Jagex will catch on to your tricks. Ideally, I would recommend switching proxies every 3-10~ accounts. How often do you get new IPs? How many accounts do you produce per IP?
