This is kinda eh.. I tried to make the darks darker and the lights lighter. I also tried using different effects to compliment the lighting on the render from the start. I think I still need more practice.

If you go black and white go fully black and white. The lighting is somewhat better and with practice you'll do good. Just keep it up. If you notice he isn't back lit though, so you hav to find the way to give the illusion that the light source is in front of him
