To Late to Become a Ranged Tank?

Hey there. I currently am leveling an Initiate Pure, however lately I was thinking maybe it would be easier to become a Ranged Tank because strength training is not as easy as Magic/Ranged training (Chinning/Bursting since my account is black marked for botting I have to play legit).

My question is: is it too late to become a ranged tank with my attack and strength levels?

Current Attack: 60
Current Strength: 78

If I did become a Ranged tank I would want 70 Attack for whip (defence training). This would put me at a combined Attack and Strength of 148.

So basically is it too late? My end stats would look something like this:

70 Attack
78 Strength
75/99 Defence
99 Range
94 Magic
90+ Hp
52 Prayer

All help would be appreciated.

 

Its not to late, i think the max is 150
Combined before you're melee based

 

With 1 attack and strength as a maxed range tank with 52 prayer you'd be level 104. It would take 149 strength and attack levels to level your combat, if you kept 60 attack you'd have to get 91 strength to level your combat to 105.

Thanks, I was thinking 70 attack would be better than 60 because of whip. Isn't whip A LOT better for defence training?

 

It's not too much of a difference. The best stats for a tank includes 75 attack for the staff of the dead, but it isn't a crucial piece of equipment since it doesn't share the damage bonus that the staff of light over the master wand like it had in pre-eoc

 

yes it does, staff of the dead increases the barrage max to 34.

 

the max in 07 is 148 combined attack and str before you start gaining combat levels from attack and str if u are range based so no you're still good to go

 

I realize that my stats are alright right however, I feel like my attack needs to be 70 in order for me to train defence effectively. I can't get 70 attack because my strength will be 79 by the time I fully quest for a range tank putting my combine at 149 (70 attack 79 strength)

 

Get 70 attack. The training will be much more smoother and effective.

No. Depends on what you define being a failed tank is. You will be at 104 combat which is the combat of most tanks. With those stats you will be fine.
