[Tutorial] [Free] LAMP web server

The following are the requirements to this tutorial:

Requirements

• Amazon Account
• Card to put on file. Free for 12 months
• Basic Command Line Use

Tutorial

Navigate to https://us-west-2.console.aws.amazon.com/ec2/v2/home. Once you are there click Instances at the top left.



Then click the launch Instance at the top of the page



Once you have clicked launch instance you will see a bunch of AMI that you can choose. I recommend you choose the first one in the picture below.



You will now need to go through the wizard setup. Select the T2.MICRO. It is free for the first 12 months. 12 months of free web hosting!!!!




Next we want to select add storage



Now here is a little something I will share with you. By default amazon selects 8 gigs but in there terms of the 12 months you can make a instance have a 30 gig storage. So lets change it from 8 to 30.

Lets go to the next step now



Skip the tags section and go to the security groups



Now you should see this



Make it look like this



Now click Review and Launch




Now select Launch



You will now have to make a pem file for your key for ssh. Make sure you download it and store it in a secure location.




You will be taken to the instance page now. Wait till your instance says running.



Once it says running we will now copy the ip address you were assigned.



Once you have the ip address. You will need to ssh into the instance to configure it for LAMP.
I recommend everyone use MobaxTerm. If you are going to use Mobaxterm follow the following to SSH into your server.

Download MobaxTerm
MobaXterm free Xserver and tabbed SSH client for Windows

Click Sessions



Then click SSH



Once you have clicked SSH. Put your ip address for the host and the ec2-user for the username

Now select the Advanced SSH Settings



Once you have clicked advanced SSH Settings select Use private key and navigate to where you have stored your pem file given to Amazon. If you have done everything that I have told you. You will now be able to connect into your new Server. Follow the instructions below to create your FREE Lamp server that will be free for 12 months.
