Fortnite = Copy of PubG? - Thoughts?

Thoughts on Fortnite?

IMHO - it just looks like a bad and cartooned version of PubG.

I haven't given it a shot yet.

 

Fortnite is practically the same game although as you stated yes it's more of a "cartoon", arcade type feel to it. I must admit though it's definitely a fun game and ALOT of people are playing it.

I guess it all boils down to what you're wanting from your games you play. PUBG is a stellar game for those who want that military type battle royale game. Whereas Fortnite is more of a game you can jump in with a few friends and dick around and have fun with. Both IMHO are decent games, but I do have to give Fortnite props as the game is flawless and barely has any problems with it, not to mention the graphics, frame rate is on point unlike PUBG which is still very very un-optimized for most people's PC's. I mean take a look at the Xbox's version it's almost run at 12-20 FPS.

Fortnite is a game EVERYONE can play and have fun with, whether it's on PC, or console. But PUBG still needs a beefy PC to play efficiently with so there's also those pro's and cons.

But TL;DR - both are great games.

 

Same thing in every genre.

League of Legens is a 'copy' of DOTA. Yet arguably it is the better game and the clear market leader.

Kinda sorta. Just because PUBG came first doesn't mean it created the Battle-Royale genre. I remember playing in little battle-royale matches in Minecraft like 10 years ago so it's definitely not a new idea by any means. They're close, but I wouldn't call it a rip-off. CoD isn't a rip off of Halo or CS, they just are different games within the same genre.

Actually PUBG is based off the 2000 Japanese film "Battle Royale" which is where the creator actually took his inspiration from. So no, saying that PUBG is a direct copy of Minecraft is completely wrong, so really you were right on one thing, and that was the no part because you sir were wrong.

No, H1Z1 was actually helped from Brendon Greene who is the creator of PUBG, and Brendon actually was creating Arma 2 mods way before H1Z1 or any 'Battle Royale' type game ever came out. If anything he's the sole reason which has ended up in this genre being pioneered to the state and success it's in today.

 

Games free on Xbox and PS4 so that’s a win in my books. Haven’t played pubg but the game seems to be taken a lot more seriously.

 

PUBG is like the Dota of BR genre, and Fortnite is LoL.

 

Yeah its a "battle royale" originally steming from H1Z1.

IMO right now fortnite is fun because the game is optimized for practically any gaming pc or console.

PUBG i like the idea more and its more real but the game is shit unlsss your running a GTX1080 +

 

Fortnite is pretty fun. But the only thing that urks me is that the guns are inaccurate as fuck.

Wouldn't say so. You're mostly basing this off the battle royale genre which isn't owned by pubg for a lack of a better word. A good way to look at it is like is Saint's Row a copy of GTA? Not really, yes they do have the same open world gameplay but are still different in their own right.

 

TIMELINE:

Arms 2 BR

Day z mod

Day z standalone (Inspired h1z1)

H1Z1 mod establishes the first mainstream BR game

"Player unknown" leaves h1 to start development of PUBG

During this same time, multiple other BR games are released.

PUBG releases which turned out to be poorly optimized and buggy

While PUBG was still not a fully released game, fornite BR is announced and become free before PUBG's full steam release



This is a short timeline and doesn't show everything, but even the Arma KOTH was actually a pretty old concept.


If you can say Fortnite copied PUBG you can say PUBG copied Arma.

In fact, most mechanics of fornite (including the choice of RNG bullet patterns vs PUBGs projectile) are completely different Than PUBG.

If anything, fornite did copy the dropping system where players start off in a plane and drop down when they are ready, but I mean who really cares?

Oh they blatantly copied PUBG; the developers admitted to it. They loved playing the game, and decided they were going to basically make their own version with it with the assets they already had.
You'd probably never believe that Fortnite was supposed to a be zombie game. That part still exists, but I don't think anyone pays attention to it.

 

It has no attention due to that part being the only bit they make you Pay to play. There success is built completely of Free to play PVP

 

It's a cartoon, dumbed down version of Pub G, but I mean it's still fun af tho.
