    Question about transparency [Photoshop]

Hi, i was wondering if anyone knew how i could make my signatures transparent, but still keep images in overlay mode i.e things that cover the whole canvas but should only be visible on the text or via colour.

Here is an example of what i mean:

Here is the image, with a black background which looks fine, you can see the texture on the text and the lights behind and the cracks. The problem is when i try to change to a different colour, or make it transparent, the overlay layer comes through . like:

So is there a way to have it so when i make the sig transparent at the end i can leave out anything not wanted and have it like the first picture but make the black transparent?

This is the same if i have a cloud layer set to overlay, or anything set to screen.

Thanks in advance if you know :)

I'm not completely sure what you mean.. but just delete the 'black' layer and save it as .PNG, then you have a transparent background.

Let me know if you mean something else.

Magic wand tool, works like a charm everytime, or hold down the eraser button and click background eraser.

I know what you mean. In order to have a light texture on your design, you have to have a background on it with the light texture on "Screen" blending mode. Here's what you should do:

    1) Set the background color to Sythe's, which is 0f1c2b.
    2) Make sure the size of your signature is 650x350.
    3) Keep the light textures set on the screen blending mode.
    4) Save it as a .PNG after you're done and upload it to an image hosting site such as the following:

    Imageshack
    Imgur
    Tinypic

    Hope this helped!
