What is flipping?

Flipping is buying something and then turning around and selling it for more than you bought it for. You can flip lots of things not just Runescape items, but this guide will be about how to flip and what items to flip in Runescape I hope this guide helps you better understand flipping. If you don’t want to know the history of how flipping was then you can skip over that section and go straight to how to flip now


How people used to flip

Way back in the good old days of Runescape people would flip items from other players in Runescape. They would say something along these lines “Buying 10 dragon boots 300k” after they had bought all the dragon boots they would then say “selling 10 dragon boots 350k”. After a few years Jagex changed the rules and ruled out free trade, so what this means is if dragon boots were worth 300k you could sell them mo more than 320k and then after you bought the first pair of boots you would have to wait several hours to be able to trade another pair of boots to profit. Many users complained about this so Jagex finally on 26 November 2007 released the Grand exchange. After the Grand Exchange was relaxed flipping was in my option the best way to legitimately make money on Runescape. To flip you would just buy one item 5% over market price and then sell it for 5% under market price after you got those prices you would have you buy and sell prices. Now flipping in Runescape is exactly the same as it was in 2007 the only difference is that before you could buy unlimited amounts of an item as long as you resold it. So lets say we were flipping nature runes, which the limit you can buy per four hours is 25k. If you bought 25k nature runes for 164 gp each and then as soon as you resold them all for 167 gp each you could then re-buy 25k more without waiting 4 hours. Now that you know how people used to flip lets get started on how to flip!


How to flip

Flipping in Runescape is very simple to do and can make you more cash per hour than almost any other skill in Runescape and you don’t even have to run around to make the money.

The first step in flipping is you need to get the buy and sell prices. Buy doing this you find out what the highest buyer is buying the item for and what the lowest seller is selling that item for.

To find the buy price buy an item 5% above market price


To find the sell price sell the item you just bought 5% below market

After you get the buy and sell prices you will want to buy the item one gp more than anyone else and then you want to sell the item one gp less than anyone else.

Buy sell prices for the lobsters at that time


Buy price 201 one gp above the highest buyer


Sell price 203 1 gp below the lowest seller



After you find the buy and sell prices you need to get a big list of 10-20 items that you want to flip with every 4 hours because after you hit the limit you will not be able to buy any more of that item for another 3 hours.They just changed the rule you used to have no limit to how many items you bought as long as you sold them. if you wanted to hold onto them you would have to wait another 4 hours to get the items. Also keep in mind that the items can make more than 2 gp per flip i have managed to make 10 gp profit off each shark with a 10k limit that's 100k in a matter of minutes!

** you can pretty much flip an item just test the item with small amounts to be sure its good, these are the best ones I have flipped with.

Your method of price finding isn't very accurate. The margins on some items are well above or well below mid price if the price is currently in flux, which is when you will find the best margins. You have to buy well above mid and well below mid and that gives you your margins. Also in a recent update jagex nerfed flipping by patching the bug that allowed you to buy back your buy out limit if you have sold them all back, so now the GE limit is a hard limit.

 

I stated in there that you can only buy the items per 4 hrs and to make a big list of what to buy and sell. Its still possible just need lots of items to flip with.

 

Good guide It's relatively short, but gives a whole overview of what it is and how to do it.

not possible anymore as you have to wait the 4 hours even if sold, just a heads up.

Besides that, nice guide, for people who want to find some items on there own, I personally like to use treasure trail items to flip, I flip very short term and not much profit, but I can flip a few items and make close to 300k in 30 mins with treasure trail items.
