Will the price of Litecoins go up?

I was wondering if I should invest into litecoins, but unsure whether or not they will rise in price.

What do you guys think?

 

They'll probably never get anywhere near the price of bitcoins if that's what you're asking. Aside from that, I have no idea. They've been quite volatile though, bouncing from $20-$40/ea. Wish I had invested in a bunch when they were still $4-$6

I have mined this though:

 

I've got 2.03 BTC atm, bought at like $400.

I think I'll get like 5 LTC and see how it goes.

Is mining LTC easier/quicker than BTC?

 

If you're looking to get into the LTC mining arena, then GPU mining is going to be far outpaced soon. Just like BTC mining when the Avalon ASIC was released.

I myself am going to jump in early with these ASICs as there is currently ONLY GPU mining available across the board. No other company has an LTC ASIC release even remotely close to being developed.

Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on alpha-t

Hoping to invest if I can afford it.

 

It's quite exciting. That's why I was wondering a while ago if someone prominent on Sythe would consider forming a BTC and/or LTC mining pool. If not, that wouldn't stop me from obtaining a few anyway.

But considering the hashrate difference from the BTC network versus the LTC network, even a few Ghashes per ASIC chipboard is going to be a HUGE, absolutely HUGE advantage.

Also, the good thing Nano, is that they'll be accepting regular fiat (even allowing people to pre-order through Paypal) unlike Avalon, who ONLY accepted BTC for their pre-orders.

 

Time will tell, hoping they're not stupidly expensive. Been GPU mining for about 2 weeks and earned 3LTC (running Nvidia cards so I'm at a huge disadvantage) - Still not bad considering I don't pay for electricity.

 

Looking at the prices of LTC at the moment, and the prices of when Avalon and Butterfly Labs took their pre-orders for BTC ASICs, I'd assume Alpha's will go for under $1,000. Generally, the rule of thumb (for BTC ASICs, was that they charged according to a 1 month profit turnover rate.) Not sure if it'll be similar, but I'd assume it shouldn't be too much more than that.

I remember Batch 1 Avalons going for around $1,250 - $1,450 in BTC. That quickly changed as the price rose.. Haha.

 

I feel that theres a chance it will rise in price, but i agree with n4no when he says that it will probably never reach that of BTC

 

I'd like to see them go up a lot in the coming year or 2, I've invested in a few (don't have a huge budget so couldn't invest tons but hey)
And I think they will go up a bunch.

It's pretty much seen as the best alternative to a bitcoin, as they are cheap and affordable.

Kind of odd that people feel this way considering bitcoin is essentially infinitely divisible. Might buy a couple LTC before they go totally mainstream and see if I can make anything from it.

That's the input I've been getting from all things i've been seeing around.
My family thinks this way, some of my friends think that way lol.

 

It doesn't need to catch BTC to be a cash cow BTC is currently worth over 28x LTC.

I think LTC is a safe bet at the moment. There is a lot of pressure on big BTC exchanges to add LTC trading to their sites, which in turn will certainly lead to increases in price for LTC. I think LTC is currently a smarter investment than BTC.

 

Also the $ value of cryptos being traded in China has LTC leading the way in volume (higher than BTC) at the moment. Been that way since the last week of November.

And yet as you pointed out, the price difference is quite drastic. I'm also leaning towards bullish for the next few months, and a gradual uptrend throughout next year.

 

Cryptomarket itself has potential to multiple numerous of time since the volume traded is becoming more and more. As of now digital currencies are changing more from hand to hand and are being used for real purchases. This will evolve, has started with exchanges, now companies like Coinkite, Bitpay ect. give merchants the opportunity the receive the currencies as payment. This is also called 'The velocity of money'

In addition LTC isn't accepted widely but it's traded on the most known platforms. If Bitstamp, Gox and BTCchina start accepting them it will get a boost. Bitpay stated they'll start implanting LTC when their cooperative exchange, Bitstamp, is accepting them.

In my opinion LTC is a better investment as BTC on the long run. LTC is lifting on all BTC's success but has the potential to rise quicker then BTC.

Well with 2+ years experience with crypto's i believe i understand some part of them (sometimes everything).
My friends laugh at me when i invest my first 11 000$ back in 2011.
