PMs from trusted users / victims of imposters

I have gone through several posts in the "report a scammer" center and noticed trusted users sending a pm confirming the skype chat to a victim of a impostor.
I wonder how this works and how imposters succesfully get the legit user to send a pm to the victim, could anyone help me out on this problem?

They have two skypes open - one is pretending to be the "trusted user" to the victim, and the other is pretending to be the victim to the actual "trusted user". By copying back-and-forth between the two conversations, the scammer is able to make them look almost identical. When the victim asks the scammer for a PM, the scammer in turn asks the actual "trusted user" through his other skype for a PM as well, supplying the victim's sythe account. Usually there are some slight variations in the logs but they look similar enough that they more often than not trip up many users.
