Background

So, i used to be a total addict to Xbox live. I quit sports, stopped talking to my friends, dumped schoolwork, and dedicated all of my time to playing Xbox. While i now see that this wasn't a good use of my time, that it was very unhealthy (accumulated 11 days game time in 2 months, calculated to be 6hrs a day, including school days,) and that it basically removed my sex life, i was good. What came along with being good was having fun. There is no better feeling than calling in your first nuke....In search and destroy

My GT is I2END, and i quit because my xbox got red rings of death, and i woke up and smelled the bacon. It was time to change my life. I got myself up to rank 1,871 on gamebattles, and while i can't grasp the name of my team, we were number one at a time.

Now that i quit, i've decided to try to help out some of you guys that might be in the same phase, or just play occasionally. I don't remember all of the tips, and some just come along with playing, but i can guarantee that everyone who reads this guide will either improve themselves, or find many strategies that they already use.​

Turn your sensitivity up.I don't care what it is now. turn it up by one, and continue to turn it up every other day that you play until it is 10. This IS a personal opinion, as the other 3 members of my team played on 4-6 and were very good, but could not "turn on kids" like i could. Getting 10 sensitivity from the beginning and sticking with it will always benefit.

These tips are for MW2 but benefit in all of the series.

The Gear
I personally used this headset. It is an MLG edition Astro A40, one of the best, if not the best audio systems on the market. I got this headset for free via monster energy.


The Weapons
Here are the classes guarenteed to own. These classes will be for search and destroy, as this was my specialty. If not mentioned, stopping power or ninja pro are going to be your second and third perks, as they're the smartest choices all around for second and third perk. Also, get a sticky grenade and stuns.
-M16. Everyone needs an m16 class.
-RDS (red-dot sight) NOT holographic.
-SoH (Sleight of hand) Pro. This redices load time and pro reduces ads. (Aim down sight)

-Tar-21 - this is my favorite gun, i've unlocked the maximum headshots and kils achivements.
-Silencer or FMJ (full metal jacket)
-SoH Pro
-dropshottable with high sensitivity.

-P90 silencer
-marathon pro
-lightweight
-this class is fairly obvious, you're going to use this to sneak behind enemy lines and is VERY useful for objective-oriented gametypes. If you think this is noobish, i beg to differ, as i've singlehandedly eliminated the top teams in the world with this class in CTF.

Strategy one: Pre-jumping
I'm not exactly sure what this is called, but this is a strategy i developed myself after playing for many years. I cannot include pictures, so i am asking you guys to if you get the chance. I taught this strategy to many of my teams. It is rather easy to grasp the concept.
When you are approaching a half-wall or obstacle that is climbable, what the normal user does is walk up or bump against it and then "press A or X" to climb it. As you may or may not have noticed, this exposes you while you get your weapon back up, which is very slow when climbing the standard way.
The whole idea or pre-jumping is a sort of double jump right before you reach the obstacle. As you are approaching, jump, so that at the midst of your jump you will come in contact with the wall, and then as soon as you hit, jump again, and you will climb the wall, without ever letting your weapon leave the ready-to-fire position. With practice of timing, this becomes second nature and you won't ever have to think about it again.

Strategy two: the drop shot
Due to increased use or larger assault rifles and the uselessness of sub machine guns in MW2, along with increased prone timings, this strategy's effect is highly reduced from CoD 4. This strategy includes having your button settings on tactical, and the right analog, instead of knife, will be crouch/prone.
As you are going to shoot, pull down the trigger, aim up, and push in your right analog stick. This will cause you to shoot the enemy in the chest and reduce you from their fire. This strategy has won 1v6 matches for me in CoD 4.

Strategy 3: Camping
Camping is used by two skill levels: Noob and professional. It takes a noob to stand in one spot the entire game and wait for people to come by, but it takes a professional to know when not to rush. Camping is one of the most valuable strategies, and when correctly executed, can help you clutch a match. [Clutch- when you are the only survivor in S&D and the enemy team consists of 2 or more players at the time you are abandoned]
In order to camp, you need to patrol a general area, while making sure to either
-not move
-move around and cover all exposed entrances
I do not suggest the not move option if you are not using a silencer, or if you've killed two or more people from the same spot. If you are playing hardcore, not moving is your best option.


Strategy Four: The quick load
Quick loading is a strategy that is difficult to pick up, but easy to master. What i mean by this is once you get it into your mind that quick-loading can be done with every single gun, you'll start doing it with perfect timing without even realizing it.
When first attempting to quick load, you need to empty your clip, or just be ready to reload. Pay attention to the ammunition bars. The ones not used will be clear, while the shots available will be white. Once you are reloading, the time that the weapon actually reloads is different than the time you're ready to shoot.
Once you see all of the ammo turn white, that means your weapon is fully loaded, so you can bring it up to the ready-to-fire stance again.
Once it's turned white, double tap your weapon switching button (Y or triangle by default) and you weapon will be ready! Continue to practice this and you'll be back in combat ready to fire in no time!

You forgot a major thing in your guide. Strafing greatly reduces the rate of sniper deaths on maps such as Wasteland. If done effectively, you can reduce your damage take quite a lot.

 

true, but most players of FPS's know how to strafe, these are specific advanced techniques.

Just learned that RS guides don't count =|.

 

The weapon suggestions are wrong.. just wrong.

 

Strat 5 - Communicate and listen to your team mates.
Strat 6 - LOW kill streaks 3 4 5 will get you alot more kills than 5 7 11 / 7 11 25
Strat 7 - Stick with someone - 2 v 1
Strat 8 - Ninja pro on EVERY class you run - so sound whores can't hear you.
Strat 9 - always have a cold blooded class ready with stingers! not javelin
Strat 10 - Always shoot down enemy UAVs / Counter UAVs - this takes around 30 bullets from any gun.. don't bother pulling out stingers. just shoot at it

 

5- Of course.
6- my way is more kills, yours is a higher score
7- this is only good if this someone is good and can communicate
8- i said that.
9- Javelins work better for searching down, sorry.
10- Stingers get more points, speedloading and speedcocking them will get you easy points in any game, especially search.

Man yo ass is lucky for gettin some free a40's! Its a good thing you quit, i pretty much did too, only playin for like 4 hours a week . Mostly just playin for like 4 hours for one day and not playin for like another week cuz its boring. Nice guide!

 

thanks for the guide but i dont know what it is I can destroy with the famas but when i start using the m16 it just goes down hill, and congrats on beating the addiction

 

Yeah it took buying some turtle's before i could get the skill up to get the astros, but it was worth it. I don't think it'd be boring for me, if i started again i wouldn't put it down.

Thanks, and yeah, the famas has less power, but some people swear that it's better. It's just a personal opinion, but if you don't use the famas at all, the M16 will rape.

 

I believe that it's too hard to make a guaranteed to succeed guide to a game that has a massive amount of different game play strategies. A majority of the thread makes it seem like weapons you do well with. Personally, I hate the P90, the Tar and so on. You should also add pictures or at the least color to help avoid the walls of text.

 

The weapons are a personal suggestion, and i know there should be more pictures but if i can get 4 more guides together, i'll make this one better before submitting an application, thanks.

 

For 9, it is correct. Javelins fail compared to the Stinger.

I don't agree that everyone should try to play on 10 sensitivity though, you can turn around quickly enough with lower sensitivity too.
