The New Recipe for Zhonya's Hourglass

I'm curious to know what everyone's opinion on this new recipe is!

Do you buy seeker's armguard first or the NLR?

Where is this prioritized in your builds (ie. is this the first item you build, secondary build, etc. etc.)?

I prefer to build this first for the armor bonus followed by Rabadon's or if I need a.speed, Rageblade... I guess I'm weird but that's besides the point!

 

If I am being targeted as APC, then I get this first otherwise, nah don't bother getting it.

 

It's a good item if you're up against an AD mid like Khazix or Panth

 

It's a good end game item regardless of the comp. Forget the armour bonus, the active is what can change team fights, especially if you're a close quarters champ. I.E, rumble, kat, nid, etc.

 

I really like the new receipe, it makes it a bit easier to play AP in mid against an AD. And yeah, as Sellerman states, it's a good item nonetheless, especially because of the huge amount of AP and the Unique Active it has.

 

Okay, so here's a new question on this - slightly offtopic: Would it be worth getting on a character such as Jax? Most of his attacks only take about 60% AP but with the Armour & Item Usage bonuses? With his ulti he gets extra MR from the AP boost as well (20%)... Maxed ulti 45MR + 24?

No. There's just so many other items that works better with Jax. If you want some sort of defensive stats, then you should build items like Iceborn Gauntlet, Maw of Malmortius, Banshee's, Warmog's or maybe even Randuins Omen (depends on their team). Also, Jax doesn't scale as much with AP as he used to. If you want more a more damage-like build go with items like Ruined King, Guinsoo's, Hextech or With's End. They are just scaling a lot better with him.

And yeah. It feels good being back

 

I build it almost every late game on Rumble (which is rare) but pick up the parts situationally. I'll get an early armguard if against a panth/talon/riven that looks decent but never against an ap carry unless the jungle is fucking me over; or if I go back with 1600 gold I can pick up the large rod.

the armguard thing is wayyy more effective for the money - always get it if you arent snowballing

 

Armguard is a very efficient item. Gives you basically a Chain Vest and a Blasting Wand in stats at a fraction of the price (1,160 gold compared to 1,580).
