LoL Discussion / help please

im kinda new to LoL. can someone give me the definitions of these? Blind pick and draft pick what are the differences?

Also what are the best characters? im currently a fan of Ryze, but i feel he is rather slow. i dont like melee because that means getting stuck in and pretty much dying all the time lol.

Any suggestions?

 

Definitions of what?
For the most part there is no "best character" but in the current meta there are different roles, and you should pick one to fit your play style.

Summoner's Rift (5v5)

Top lane: Bruiser (Melee AD) -> Generally builds a bit tanky. Either the top lane or jungle typically initiates fights for the team. Very snowball lane
Mid lane: AP Caster -> They shoot spells and stuff
Bot Lane: Support + AD Ranged Carry -> Support wards and helps the ADC farm. ADC is squishy but can carry the game with its strength and positioning
Jungle: -> Ganks lanes, makes plays

That's really just a simplified version, the game is much more intricate

 

It is almost impossible to explain everything that the game contains. Your best bet is to watch youtube guides and the wiki page.

What characters do you play with?

 

Blind pick is when you set up a game with your team picking 5 characters and not knowing who the opponent is picking. You have the full set of characters (or the ones available to you) to pick from.

Draft pick is basically a competitive-style picking. Each team eliminates a certain amount of characters (I believe it was a 1-2-2-1 elimination?) and then they both pick their characters based on what is left. If you eliminate a certain character for the other team it means YOUR team can pick it.

Character choice is based on how strong you are with the characters. My suggestion is that you try different characters until you find a group you like. Each week (Starting on Tuesdays, EST) there is a rotation of (8?) characters you can play for free without paying.

My personal choices are Jax/Varus/Twisted Fate/Blitzcrank/Nunu.

 

i tried TF but he is so weak at the beginning, i cant get a good start, therefore a bad end. need tips!

 

Farming is your friend. Kills are important but not exclusively your goal during the laning phase.

 

Make sure you try to farm and not many cs... Look at builds/ people play on lolking.
Take notes from them, focus certain people in teamfights... etc, etc.

 

I prefer ranged champs over melee, I struggle to pressure/avoid pokes and farm effectively as melee. My preferences are annie/kayle/morgana/ashe/nidalee
