Marine Corps Question.

I have been planning to enlist in the marines when i turn 17. But i have a VERY bad eye. My right is 20/50 which is far from good, do you guys think i will still be allowed to enlist with my crappy eye? i just realy need to know because if I cant then im pretty much screwed because I have not made the best grades in high school and i highly doubt i will be able to go to college. so i really need to know.

 

i know someone who was 18 he didnt get in cause of his eyesight but it was way worse than yours. and 3 years later i guess his eye matured a little more because he got it. i tried googling a little to but couldnt find to much info.

 

It won't help, but if it isn't TOO bad they won't decline you.


They'll take anyone who can see their hand infront of their face basically.

 

I'm sure they'll give you some "fancy" bolded glasses, you'll be fine. Now if you were hoping to get into any type of Special Warfare (i.e, SEALs, Rangers, recon, etc.) Then you need a solid 20/20, otherwise, i'm sure with a pair of their beautiful glasses you'll be complete.

No, you can have your GED with college credits.

ASVAB has a virtually 0% failure rate.

So yes, they take virtually anyone.

Lol, you try going through MEPS. The physical requirements isn't near what he's asking. MEPS will be sorting out the issues with his sight. Also, better said then done.

 

My response wasn't to the OP, it was to Tombstone who said the entrance requirements weren't a joke. I was stating from my perspective they seem pretty easily obtainable, including the physical fitness aspect.

 

I'm a Marine, I've got pretty shitty eyesight, probably wouldn't be a problem, they'll just issue you a good ol' pair of birth control glasses. Good luck with your decision, ask me if you have any other questions.

I was legaly blind in it but i wore an eye patch through most of my childhood and it strengthened from legaly blind to super shitty.
