Sythe.org Trade Center

In an effort to combat the continual ban evasion, scamming, and hackings, I decided to draft up the beginning of something which may prove to be useful.

By re-implementing some code that has already been written by Matthew, I've created the basic template for a Sythe.org Trade Center. There may certainly be some drawbacks from this, but I will try to do my best in explaining what I'm wanting to accomplish with this suggestion, and how useful/helpful this can be to current users and newcomers alike.

Please understand these pages were generated in a couple hours due to the fact suggestions are not always approved.

• Looks up user entered in the text box and asks for confirmation before proceeding
• Loads trade request form if "Yes" is selected
  • If the user is banned, the process will not proceed
  • If either user has an active trade, the process will not proceed (important)
  • If Skype is on DNTL, the process will not proceed
  • *Potential rule: Posting/PM'ing of Skype ID without use of Trade Center is against the rules (if used for the purpose of trading).
• Includes trade history on first page for quick, ease of access

• Extremely basic form generated - Can always be improved
• Needs Skype ID's to be included somewhere
  • Can potentially code something in to cross-reference with the DNTL to warn users.
• "Monetary value of goods" can include RSGP or any other type of currency
• Payment methods can be further defined (PP/WU are only included)
  • "Other" option can be included → Reveals a hidden box on the form
  • If PayPal/WU/etc is chosen, the details can be requested through the Trade Center in the case of a scam
• "How will the trade be performed?" has 3 options
  • Buyer goes first - Would need to be agreed upon
  • Seller goes first - Would need to be agreed upon

This is a very rough draft of an idea I've had for a while.
It may be a lot to read, but I'm interested to see thoughts of Community Members and Staff.

This looks like a project that's gonna take quite some time to develop. At the moment it looks like Matthew is the only guy with server access and he doesn't seem to have much time. This really needs to change before these kind of projects can be started.

The trade center will only be useful if payment information can be logged.

I think this project has potential but it needs further elaboration.

 

i like the idea, but i cant support this. Gold traders do more trades at a time + they dont rly have time to fill out formats and stuff.

 

People will just trade somewhere else if this is implemented.

I think a much simpler fix would make it a rule to get a PM before each and every trade.

 

There is already a rule in place, what needs to happen is a rule that states how long before each trade. For example; A pm over 24hrs is invalid and can't be used as evidence, or something like that.

 

Lift the trades at a time rule and I would support! This could scan skypes for hacked ones, prevent trades with users with open disputes/bans, offer an ability to log all information done on site.

Hell you should have it to where its a built in instant PM system, so that users can converse on the site rather thann skype!

I really don't see people taking up time doing this, so it makes it pretty ineffective overall - if not all people use it then the one trade at a time thing doesn't really help.

 

I'd support this but in the same time i wouldn't for one reason.

User A is selling 500M Eocgp.
User B Buys 100M, asking for a pm before the trade

User B goes to buy off him 400m EOC gp, but doesn't ask for a pm before the trade
User A scams him and claims to get hacked .

Just because the pm wasn't before the trade, and the "i got hacked" excuse is used doesn't mean it's invalid.

 

I like it, we just have to enforce it. This wouldn't even take more than 1 minute to fill if both traders know what they want. Everyone needs to stop being lazy and start playing safe.

 

No safer than just requesting a PM - which takes no dev work yet achieves the same thing

 

Oh god.. I knew someone was gonna come up with that defense. Look where that got us. You can also look at the CK case. This would also protect users from hacked skypes which is important.

 

With options to 2fa your Skype now traders could be held responsible if their account gets hacked. If you choose not to 2fa then it's not our problem.

PM before every trade works as well.

No it doesn't. That was exploited long ago, as it is today. Look back at the GodGensis case where an imposter got him to pm the person he was talking to.

So much for innovation... Let's see where this gets us.

 

Not a bad idea, but not what a market place such as Sythe needs; more so, users wont utilise it and it will just be a waste.

 

People arent going to use it. People go for ease of use before safety 9 times out of 10, otherwise everyone would use OMM's and practice safe trading to begin with. People are negligent because they are lazy.

If we implement this people will just use another site with less bs involved. I know I would if I were a market member, fuck filling out a form a dozen or more times a day.

 

This. No one is going to use it, I mean I can already make a super fast and easy trade with a pm. Also, say the site is down or experiencing errors, no one could trade then if you had to use the trade center.

 

it wouldnt be any worse than talking on skype/ requesting a PM on here. It would consolidate it all

 

Enforce it.. Make it known. A pm sounds like an option, not an obgligation. Before entering the market, have users read what it's about and how it can protect them.

 

How would you enforce it? I mean how many stickies are there saying to request a pm and trying to enforce that, yet barely anyone requests a pm. If you could enforce anything, enforce a pm and we don't need any extra work.
