Might I remind you that proxy servers are only as good as the host server. If the CIA or FBI cyber unit devoted their time into this matter the Anonymous OPs that were in charge of the DDoS attempts would be in prison. You're treating the United States government as if they don't have the single largest cyber unit in the world run and aided by the worlds foremost cyber gurus.

Oh, and if you would like the IP dump that has already been compiled of every member in the AnonOps raid IRC, feel free to ask. Our company received the full list of IPs this morning and are being asked to pursue legal action by Universal and several other companies that I know of are on this case as well.

Lol you realize that all the links and pages annonymous has ben giving out has a browser version of there Low orbit ion cannon running on them. anyone who clicks there links or checks into what annanymous is or does is inadvertantly contributing to the ddosing. I highly doubt that 30% of the people on the internet are going to go to jail since everyone who has checked out annonymous's pages has ben helping the attacks.

No, as I mentioned, the United States government is only going after registered members of the AnonOps official raid IRC, and not all of the incoming connections on FBI.gov and such.

Yea but I doubt they will be able to prove anything against them. All of the higher active Anons know there rights. innocint until proven guilty. or if you want to look at the mega upload trial right now. guilty until proven innocint.

Don't make me laugh. They brought the Megaupload developers in on one and a half million dollars worth of piracy charges. They aren't innocent. By the time they were arrested, they had a guaranteed chance that they would be imprisoned.

Now if we look at how the United States government handles piracy, they only go after companies they can fully assure will be imprisoned or charged with a crime. They don't attack sides that have a probable chance of walking away. Now, why would the United States government attack a group of individuals if they have no evidence to convict them? They wouldn't.
And as I discussed previously, the information (including names, locations, aliases, and IP's) has already been found. All the government would have to do would be to check the IPs of those in the IRC channel with those incoming connections on the downed site and they have a guaranteed charge of 5-10 years in prison for an unauthorized impairment of a protected system, 2 years for tampering with government property and even more for conspiracy to commit a cyber offense. That being said, there is clear evidence to convict every OP in the IRC with 25+ years in prison.

And the last thing: the government has done it before.

Thats why hundreds of domain names have ben siezed in the past year for having links to websites that have piracy on them? Let me find a link that will show that the goverment has siezed domains for piracy then the government never had evidence on them and didnt give the domains back for 8 months. Regardless of anything they are being imprisoned with no trial and your going to object to that? you obviously dont deserve or care about your freedoms.

Technically, they are able to detain terrorists without a trial based on the National Defense Authorization Act. The United States government already has the power to revoke United States citizens domain names by threatening the host with legal action, and that's been around since the widespread use of the internet and long before SOPA/PIPA.
While I would like to see your source on the information showed above, I highly doubt its credibility. If there indeed was a problem with this, it would have hit mass media.
It is not illegal for the United States government to detain individuals while awaiting trial, as sanctioned by both the ICC and US Supreme Courts, so I see no problem with it. Now, we call my morals into question; I do not support the actions of terrorists destroying government property. If you would like to change the outcome of political events you are free to contact your representatives and voice your opinion as is suggested by the United States Constitution.
Now we call your morals in to question: if you support the actions of terrorists, you are morally corrupt. The fact of the matter is, that sites who host copyrighted material are breaking the law and either remove those violations or serve the punishment. I don't support SOPA but I don't support morons who use other peoples scripts (which is breaking copyright by hosting it on their site) wasting our tax payer money because they find it fun.

How do you guys consider DDoS attacks "hacking" its just shutting down the site for about a day without actually harming the site other than not allowing users on the site. It basically just a small pest, no real harm but get annoying .

    This^^^^

They didn't "hack" the site, they just took it offline momentarily by flooding it with traffic.

"Anonymous" is a very loose term for whatever kiddies are online/have nothing better to do/have the urge to fuck shit up. Isn't synonymous with /b/ or 4chan.

It's more than annoying. Although it isn't considered a hack it does just about the same damage. We had someone DDoS our work servers for some odd reason and it ended up completely frying about a half a million USD worth of server equipment.
DDoS especially with about 10,000 slaves can cause a considerable amount of damage and forces the company to put workers on shift to fix them.

TBH it's not that big of a deal. The sole purpose of that site is to provide information such as public-access world news, non-classified government movements, and bureaucracy/foundation/agency statics. The webpage is almost as useless to government officials as myspace.com is to social networkers.

EDIT: They have a "Fun and Games" tab in their nav bar for fuck's sake.

    Think of your PC:
When your PC is powered on it generates heat, so much so that your system requires a cooling system. Now, say we have a server (which is just a glorified PC) and we increase the number of processes the CPU must complete, we generate heat on the CPU. What happens when we generate to much heat? We fry the CPU and destroy the server.

You realized 90% of the websites on the internet host uploading in some way or form. that uploading gets abused and people upload copyrighted material. that makes 90% of the websites on the internet voulnerable to being siezed. The creators of the websites have all of there assets frozen and siezed by the government just because they have an upload function on there website. lets think of a few sites that have uploads and copyrighted material uploaded by the users on no fault of the website owners.....
by the way im sure the governmet would love to sieze the assets of these companies

Myspace- upload of pictures and videos
facebook- uploads of pictures and vidoes
photobucket- or any other picture hosting site.
youtube- or any other video hosting site.

lets also note that some sites have ben seized for mearly having links to copyrighted material posted.

witch adds sythe and about any other forum into that list.

That isn't even remotely close. Over 72% of the "internet" is inaccessible with a common browser, made up of mostly credit card authorizations and back end servers. Now here is where I think you're going astray from the ACTUAL legislation; you haven't read it. Nowhere in the legislation does is say anything about the termination or transfer of assets by the government. It says that domains may be fined for the continual hosting of copyrighted content, if the problem persists. That means: a producer sees content that is his on a site. He contacts the site and asks them to remove it. If they do not remove it, he contacts his attorney and sends a legal request. It is now in attention of what SOPA actually dictates. If the host does not remove this content, they press legal action and the host's site can be taken away. There are in fact two chances and the potential for more for the host to remove the copyrighted material before any legal action is taken.
YouTube, Facebook, Myspace (if they are still open in a months time) and PhotoBucket, simply removes the content when they are asked to (the same as with Millennium) and they continue on with their site.

Sprinkling the legal "copyright pixie dust" doesn't instantly allow SOPA legislation to take away your domain and if you had read the legislation instead of taking your news from CNN, you would know this.

Watch half of the people who end up being arrested are from ages 20-16...
