That's pretty sad to be honest, the IRS needs to change those rules.

I somewhat agree with you. If the state did take over half of his earnings, that is just horrible. Hell, I would have done the same.

It's always idiots like this guy that win the Lottery.. He can easily live the rest of his life on that money, if spent wisely.

 

This is pretty low. There are a lot of needy people who can not get food stamps and other welfare because there isn't enough to go around and this jerk is abusing the system. He is literally taking food away from people that need it more than he does.

 

He's using tax dollars to buy himself food, when he can easily do so himself.

 

I understand his point. He won 2 million and the government took half of it. If I were him I'd probably do the same thing. I would make sure I get my million out of them.

The government took $1m off hit to help others - Completely agree with them doing that. Others are in need, the government needs to help them.

He's still entitled to his FAIR share of government aid. Also.. Government aid - at least over here in the UK - is done on income, not wealth.. In which case, he's entitled to it all therefore he'd be a fool not to claim it.

My fiancee makes under 15k a year.

We "make too much" for food stamps.
So why is he still allowed to get foodstamps after pocketing 1mil+?

I would have 1mil$.

If I used up all the money, then yes, I would revert back to foodstamps.. but if I still have more than 10k "change" I would not use foodstamps.
