Staking and PID

I heard PID changes every 3 minutes? Is this true or is it 100% random? Say I fight the same person for 10 minutes they have PID the first fight. Will they continue to for the remaining 3 minutes? Also, what's the point of a "PID switch"? If the other person has PID why even let them hit you to gain PID as you will be down a hit regardless. Any info helps. Thanks

For staking, at the start of the fight it is randomly determined who will have the pid for the entire fight

 

So what is the point of doing a PID switch in a fight? Regardless you will loose a hit, so why even do it?

 

People do it when they don't have pid, so they can switch attack styles and they don't lose a hit

 

The switch allows your to alternate attack styles between accurate and defense (+3 invisible boost) in each stat.
This gives a therotical advantage, when the opponent does not change styles them self (realistically they probably will, therefore real advantage is not likely to be gained).

So if my opponent gets PID he gets an invisiable +3 in accurate and defense. However, if I switch from flick to lash then his invisible +3 is nullified?

 

No, if you don't switch and the attacks stay on top of each other regardless of whose pid it is you both have a static +3 boost in whichever style you are using, no advantage for either person from attack style.

 

Pid in a stake is determined as the stake starts, there is no way to figure out or guess who has pid, as your players Player ID is different to the pid used in stakes.

This used to be different when 07 first came out as your pid was ip based, it's now random. You don't "lose a hit" when you off-tick as well. People think deflect/attack gives you +3 defence levels and +3 attack levels but it doesn't, it gives you attack and defence bonus, not levels - two different things.

If a max main uses lash and someone else off-ticks the stake and uses deflect/flick on their hits I believe they don't even have .1% edge

I did the calculations before with like 500K simulations but cba finding/redoing it, but it is literally nothing.
