How is PiD determined in Oldschool?

I've heard many theories about how it is determined; all of which related to your IP address. My question is what is the exact formula to determine who gets PiD?

You have to get xxx.xxx.18.1
For perfect ip for pid.
3rd group has to be divisible by 18 and end group the lowest number possible

 

It's not 18, it's 8...

 

xxx.xxx.8.1 is perfect i.p as stated above 3rd group divisible by 8 and last group is lowest number you can possibly get. I'm not sure how the two are balanced though. Say you have a non-divisible number by 8 but your 4th number is 1 would you have pid over someone whos 3rd number is divisible by 8 but is lets say 5 for example.

 

well basically you logon and wait for 20hrs and your pid will be great unless that is just eoc, then my bad

How does PiD effect your gameplay via staking and such?
Is there a guide anywhere? I've been looking with no avail.

You will beat people when doing the same thing at the same time, for example, if you both click on an item at a drop party at the same time, the person with the better pid will get it.

There is no such thing as PID in old school Runescape. Its all about IP like the first comments explains. And most of the time, it's just a bunch of bollocks without giving you any advantage.

 

The advantage is for staking, if you are cooking or woodcutting it doesn't give you any advantage, but in staking someone with much lower stats who has PID will actually have the advantage.

 

I've already tried it out. I have been staking for years (during the times you could) and I can tell you that it's not based on IP or PID most of the time.
