How did Jagex get my eMail?

I have 3 email accounts, one for spam, one personal (main email, personal and registered on Runescape) and one for buying/selling stuff online.

I bought Nexus (iBot) on the email account for buying/selling stuff online.

I checked that email today and found the Botting Notice warning.
How did Jagex get that email address?
And is my main under suspicion?
It is not associated with the buying/selling email account.

 

It will probably be from the ibot sales database, I'm not sure if this is legal or not.

Ok pretty sure the email is fake and just phishing

 

They sued ibot and won, so I'm guessing they now own the website and any associated content.

 

Just for a fact, I have not received that mail from Jagex, yet I use Nexus iBot bots.

Lots of people started receiving that letter 7 hours ago. Just noticed, I had received it 1 hour ago. Oh, damn...

 

It is in fact a real e-mail to anyone contending otherwise.

 

I own over 30 unique auth codes, and have used 2 emails to pay for them all. None of my accounts have received anything in their respective inbox's, and I haven't received an e-mails yet.

Am I in the clear? Or are they still sending them out?

 

EDIT: The ibot email is legit.

 

Doubt it mate, I only just received mine about an hour and half ago, some people got them a long time before that.

Yes, Jagex will never email you unless you specifically request it. Phishing emails will also look very credible.

 

jagex is sending to e-mail and inbox, from what i understand.

True, HOWEVER, it is NOT phising. There are no links.

 

It is a legit message, it has been confirmed on the rs forums and through a duplicate letter in players message centre. The emails sent to email addresses have no attachments or links that could lead to phising sites or that would cause the recipient to install keylogging software.

 

I'm in the same boat. Roughly 20 auths and tons of accounts. I'll post when/if I get anything.

 

I stand corrected, It is legit.

 

They stalked you. Saw that you played runescape. Stalked you some more to gather information. Touched you while you sleep then took your email and added it to this list.

 

I've used the same email on a few account, brought all my auth with that email. I was a member at most places that sell auth and also at rscheata the home of ibot and I havnt gotten one email.
