    Eyes

My eyes are one of the things that have been worrying me recently. Admittedly, I use the computer and all the other gadgets we all know and love far, far too much. I currently have glasses for school (I only have to wear them during lessons, to help see the board etc etc.) which worries me a little bit in itself.

However, I have noticed my eye sight has gradually continued to deteriorate. My first and most recent visit to the opticians was just over a year ago, and I am planning to go again soon.

Another thing that worries me, is that I can hold my eyes open for an absurd amount of time, without feeling the need to blink or them watering. I understand that this is most likely due to the long lengths of time I spent on the computer (When I say I use the computer a lot, I mean a lot).

Are there any steps I can take to slow down this process? Obviously using the computer less would benefit me, but it's not really an option.

Will using my glasses that I use for school whilst on the computer help? I'm short sighted, the glasses allow me to see further without having to strain my eyes.

Will the extensive use of the computer affect me majorly in the future?

    Thanks.

Don't worry too much, you aren't the only one who stays on the computer for enormous amounts of time without using glasses, maybe you can ask your eye doctor for special lenses that help reduce the effects of the computer/tv screen, I remember getting that done for me when I was younger.

Well, using electronic devices a little less is really all we can do to stop this. I suffer the same problems as you, and have gotten continuously worse eyesight after I use gadgets too much.

Try to not look at the computer or tv screen less. Personally I wouldn't worry about it if I were you but if it's really a big issue then ask your doctor for any other tips, I heard carrots were good for your eyes but that could be an old-wives tale for all I know. :p

Every once and a while, while at the computer, just look around your room for 30 seconds or so. Should take a little stress off your eyes.

I learned this in grade school, so I'm not entirely sure of its effectiveness :p But it seems like a reasonable concept :)

I am legally blind and I know what it feels like to wear glasses. I only wear mine for driving and computing. Wearing them at the computer makes life 100 times easier. Takes a lot of the "stain" off of your eyes.

I've also considered buying a 40+ inch LED tv to browse sythe on also.

The extensive use of your computer doesn't hold a big impact on your eyesight. Genetics play a larger role. Your eyesight will continue to deteriorate until you are in your 20's, don't worry. I switched over to contacts a few years ago and they make life so much easier, you can't even notice they're in half the time.

But yeah, computer doesn't matter unless you are 2 inches from your screen.
