Male ear piercing. What should I do?

So I'm getting my car very soon and I thought that it was finally time that I drove down to the mall got my ears pierced. I did actually pierce it myself when I was 14 and it led to an infection. Which was a horrid idea.
So now 2 years later I thought I'd get it professionally done and I'm confused on what to get. I'm not into the whole diamond thing because that's not really my style. Gages or those little spikes would be good but it seems way way way too common. So I was thinking about getting black studs. Just a little black flat headed stud or even a really tiny black tube.
I'm sorry I can't post pictures of what I'm talking about because im currently on my iPad. So if somebody could help out and post some ideas that'd be nice.
Anybody got any personal experience and got some tips on what I should get?

 

I got my left top cartilage ear pierced, it didn't hurt at all. I cleaned it two times a day for two months.

I like it, and that's the only piercing I ever got. I don't plan to ever get a piercing again however.

 

Dont get the hoops, they are fucking disgusting and people will look at you funny.

 

tip: men shouldn't get peircings.. just saying... lol


if you do don't get that gauge bullshit who the hell wants to be able to loop your ear over itself?

 

GET STUDS and stop at double 00 or your ears wouldn't naturally heal.

Gauging your cardilidge isn't that common. I've never seen anyone do that. I have mine gauged though, but it's harder since the area is harder.
