"Doubling Money"

While I would never actually do this I am curious as to do people actually fall for this? I see people all the time, people who look rich, offering to double GP.

So my question is, do people actually fall for this?

Has anyone tried it?

Do you get banned as well? As the accounts being risked do not seem worth it.

I like giving these people like 3gp and then getting like 6 back. Fun to mess with these idiots.

 

Every time I've tried it (3x) I got double back, first time 300k got back 600k, second time 1M, third time 5M. Some people are actually doubling because they're quitting.

 

I'll be fair with you. I haven't heard of anyone being banned anymore. For anything. At all. People do still fall for this, but in very select situations. Normally people will go legit for a little while before going all out scammer. For instance, they'll double someone's 500k, then someone else's 1m, someone else's 5m, another 10m and eventually someone thinking they are 100% legit will throw in like 50m to be doubled and the person will log with a 33.5m profit.

I normally feed the person like 50k to watch them log! I like playin games with them to see how low I can get one to log for

 

Only if they are complete idiots. He will have been wanting to play you further for higher loot to run away with. No one gives away GP to strangers, they'll either give it to their friends or sell it.

 

Just saying, every time I fed into it to try it out, which was just giving the money once and seeing what they'd do they always doubled it, they probably would scam after but it seems to work against them in most cases. Depending on how much they have, level, other factors, then taking the risk.

 

There was once a level 3 with a 99 dung cape that I tried out... So I gave him 300k just to test him... He ran off instead of logging off, but I was following him, and I reported him. He actually did get muted from it.

 

I only lost money doing this once... (giving money to doublers)

Other than that, it's been nice side profit =p.

 

i got a level 120+ to log for 5k once, he never logged back into the same world again.

 

See my "Trade With Caution"? That's cause over a year ago I said I tried money doubling. Granted, I've made one trade on this forum before that and zero after, but if you don't want the warning it's probably best to not admit to it.

As for the Doubling, I'm certain most people know it's a scam. But it's almost become a form of gambling -- assuming the 'doubler' will be legit the first few times, it becomes a game of seeing how far you can press your luck before he doesn't double it. Then the term 'doubling' becomes a codeword of sort, because everyone knows you're not really doubling. Pretty nifty sociology there, to be honest.

 

I had some guy double me 10m to 20m then I left lol and there was one time someone was doing 10x gave him 2m he gave me 20m. I always do a test and actually double my money then leave lol

 

Doubling is always good when its a small sum. When It comes to huge amounts, its definitely a scam.

 

Its just playing off the stupidity of very new players who don't understand how the game works and little kids who are just starting out.

 

It's just like "trimming rune armour"....

None of them are legit, and practically all are scammers.

 

I had a red partyhat, a decent cash stack and I felt like trolling (no surprise there for people that knows me).

So I wore armor that would make me look like a noob/scammer. Rune full helm, rune body, legs etc. And I was doubling money. People that would have actually given me something, I'd have doubled it. Luckily the highest was only like 50k.

The fun part is when people calls you a scammer or try to humiliate you assuming you're an obvious scammer. I show them a red phat and they just shut up in shock. I would run around the G.E banks, then hop. Did it a few times. Was getting bored, didn't want to hop so I did it at edgeville. No trades, so I just teled back to the G.E to call it a day. Someone said/did something hilarious, I try to talk and find out I was temp muted. So yes, you can get muted, but not banned as far as I am aware of. Sometimes you get perm muted if you actually get caught scamming, pmod just assumed I was trying to.

 

If your TWC is that old, and not based on evidence of you actually scamming, you could probably go appeal it?

 

You would be extremely surprised how many people fall for the doubling money scam, even today. Every time I am at the GE buying something or skilling, I see noobs falling for it left, right, and center. The saddest part is that a lot of the people I see running the scam are like level 100+ and look like they've got a decent amount of cash. All I can do is shake my head and laugh.

Sometimes I like to troll the money doublers though and do a small test of 50-100k with a promise of doing millions as soon as I know they are trustworthy. After they double the initial trade, I usually just walk away. I know I should probably be more mature than that, but I still get a good chuckle out of doing it here and there :laugh:

 

I like asking for a test and putting in 100k and then have them give me 200k, thinkin ima go higher. but really i just say "thank you" and leave with the scammers money

 

I gave someone 200k they logged out so what I did was add him to my friends went to his world kept annoying him until he gave me 400k then I reported him for scamming LOL

 

Actually you can never be totally sure, about a year ago when I came out of a 1b dice duel and won I literally gave away 350M to random people in the G.E. just to see reactions. I did "first person to trade me 200k wins claws" doubled money said guess a number 1-10 goody bags, gave away an invo of free whips to anyone who traded me 15k lmao

99% of the time it is going to be a scam though
