Staff Not Staying In Their Appropriate Sections

If you eliminated the whole "Global Moderator" thing, why are your staff members infracting outside of their particular sections?

I can't mention specific members, but I have a warning, and an infraction from 2 staff members, when it was not anywhere NEAR their section.

I thought this whole idea was supposed to keep the mods in the sections they moderate?

I support, but off-topic only has 1 mod at the moment so for the time being, they should be allowed until they recruit more people to off-topic.

No. It's not off-topic, it's everywhere. Nathan can infract, yes, but if a runescape moderator goes into community discussion, and starts trying to mod, he's not staying in the respective sections. This should be enforced. Head Moderator of their section or not, they should stay in their section.

Who gives a fuck if the staff loves them, that's just stupid.

I agree with your point there: staff should stay in their section.

Why am I not surprised with Finniscool, honestly.... he shouldn't get anything. He's had numerous problems in the past and they will most definitely happen again.

Sectionals from other sections can infract freely, regardless of the section. If someone flames, they flame. It doesn't matter what section it's in. The rules of the site apply to every forum, so Moderators vindicate these rules in every forum.

On a second note, if anyone can even provide me with a reason for us not to infract outside of our sections, it would be much appreciated. I mean, the only reason I can think that people would complain about us doing extra work, and vindicating rules on a global scale is that they're complaining, as they're unhappy about being infracted, and are trying to use this argument against the Moderators, so it can't happen again.

    Which we all appreciate.

But finn, it is not your section to moderate. If someone reports something, leave it to the mods who moderate that section. If you end up doing their job, you leave nothing for the other mods to do in their sections.

So the logs, for one look horrible because it appears the person isn't doing anything, and for two, they get bored or upset because their section is being moderated by someone who shouldn't be moderating it.

Sure, if there is porn posted, or something highly illegal, I'd understand. But enforcing general forum rules outside of your section should not be allowed. You should remain where you were put, which is one of the reasons this new system was implemented. You're not a global moderator, you're a runescape moderator. Stop moderating things that have nothing to do with you, and leave the decisions of other mods sections up to the moderators who moderate that section.

When someone reports a post, it says who is the moderator of that section, therefore, that mod is responsible for that particular post in that particular section, and they should be handling it. Not someone else. If someone else has to handle it, it looks bad on their part. Or if someone handles it incorrectly, it falls on that moderator to settle things out.

Point and fact, stay in your own damn sections.

You're dramatizing things slightly. It's also extremely difficult to do spam reports if you're stopping Moderators from answering all of the reports, as you'd have to go through and select specific ones to answer, without any good reason.

No thanks. I adhere to the Staff Code, not Deacon Frost. If I see something which needs to be infracted, I'll infract it. There's nothing in the Staff Code that states I cannot infract out of my section. This has been going on for years now, and this is the first time it has been brought up, and I know why it has been brought up -- because you were infracted, and didn't like it. God, you love to cause conflict.

Sectionals are given their position to focus in their section; this does not mean they are limited to that one section only. Sure, they cannot modify or delete posts/threads in other sections, but they can still help out by handing out infractions should the moderator for that section not be available. . .

No, I dislike conflict, and I hate drama. That's your department, darling.

Yes, it has been going on for years, but only recently has the new system been implemented, and that is because it is meant to keep moderators in their section so they concentrate on their sections and their sections alone. How about you do that, mr. RS mod?

    Also:

    Moderators

Tgump, Darkgroove, Macroman, Cfrey, R2Pleasent, DarkSpark, Nathan', The Viper000

You're not a moderator of the SPAM forum, so you shouldn't be handling ANYTHING outside of your section.

Yes, however, if a moderator wonders outside of their section, and begins infracting simply because they feel like it (which we all know finn likes to do), then the moderator of that section has to deal with upset people in their section.

Like I said, I understand if it's something serious, but just because they feel like infracting someone in another's section, they shouldn't be doing so.

Once again, you've clearly been influenced by the creation of your own forum. Feel free to create pointless rules there if it pleases you, but don't come onto this site and tell our Moderators what to do. Once again, they adhere to the Staff Code, not you.

I've not been influenced by the creation of my own forum, and you are clearly lacking in the membrane if you don't understand what I'm saying.

Let me spell this out so you may understand it, ok little boy?

You are a RUNESCAPE MODERATOR. You are intended to MODERATE the RUNESCAPE section. By you venturing into other people's sections, and infracting people just because you got a little burr up your fucking ass means you create more work for other moderators.

THERE, did we understand that now?

Or are you still stuck in the assumption that you are always right?

    If you insist, old man.

    Yes, why, yes I am.

    Truly vicious.

The thing is, we have been physically stopped from moderating (in terms of moving threads, locking threads, etc) in sections that aren't our own. By physically, I mean, we cannot do those sort of moderation activities in other sections. However, as we can infract globally, I maintain that it is intended.

Please show me where - precisely - it says that we are not permitted to infract people globally.

Deacon, if you don't like us enforcing the rules, you're welcome to leave - no-one's stopping you from doing so.

We are given power to keep our own forums tidy, but it is a duty for ALL MODERATORS to enforce THE RULES upon ALL USERS. If you don't like the rules being enforced, you must be quite the anarchist. As a sectional, my prime focus is in my section, but if I'm in another forum and the rules are broken, do you honestly think I'm going to let it slide? I'll say it again as a parting remark, it is our duty to enforce the rules, regardless of sectional role and if you don't like that, tough luck.

Agreed, I do not argue that.

But when you go to a section, and simply infract someone WITHOUT them breaking the rules, then you give work to other moderators.

    Let's do this:

You infract someone in the market for saying "I'll buy the account, my msn is: " and they give the MSN. You count it as Spamming.

Then that person complains to you that you infracted them, and you say it was just. Then that user goes to the moderator of that section, and tells them they received an infraction for no reason by you.

That moderator feels you were wrong, and reverses that infraction. He tells you that he wants things like that, and since it is his section, let him maintain it.

That user then feels, whenever you further infract them, that they were wrong, and will dispute every further infraction. Which creates more work for the moderators they have to talk to, more anger between that user and yourself, and even more anarchy as users will feel that some mods just can't do their job right.

On the flip side, say a market moderator infracts someone in programming for talking about a language that wasn't being mentioned. That moderator knows nothing about the section, but infracts them based on PERSONAL policy, not by forum rules.

The user complains to the mod, yada yada, then comes to you, yada yada, you reverse, yada yada, want that kind of stuff...

    Do you see the chaos?

Finn infracting outside of his position, based on personal policy, is not adhering to the rules, and will create work for other moderators to clean up because we ALL know he won't accept his mistakes.

I give up with this thread. I know I'm right, and I know the people who matter will know that I'm right in infracting people outside of my section.

There's something deeper than jealousy driving you, Deacon. Malice. I think it's my turn to say this to you -- it's just the Internet, little boy.
