I think it has something to do with the external microphone you are using? Try another and see if it makes a difference.

    Laptop problem!

I've used 3 different mics, still static. I go and plug them up in my brothers laptop and the mics work perfect, 100% crystal clear.

    Laptop problem!

Sounds like the issue you get when trying to use shitty extremely-low-quality dollarstore headphones in your iPod, but in this case, the issue isn't the device jack, it must be the port on your computer. Maybe a contact or ground wire inside the port is loose and isn't making full contact with the jack. The jack could just be faulty and need replacing, but since they're soldered to the motherboard usually on laptops, it wouldn't be as easy as simply replacing an audio card. Unless your laptop DOES have an audio card that isn't integrated. Then it'd be easier and cheaper to fix.

Have you tried using USB mics? If USB mics do the same thing, then my guess at a faulty headphone port would be wrong. It'd probably be software in that case. Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling your audio drivers?

Try a USB microphone. If there's no static, then it means your headphone/microphone port is faulty. The port that looks like this:

Oh, yes I have, I used turtle beach x12's for the longest, then a few other mics that didn't use USB.

If you've used USB and it still has the static issue, then it's a software issue. Either your drivers are corrupting, even after you try to reinstall, OR there's some conflicting bit of software. Run in safemode and test your microphone that way and see if there's still an issue.

It's weird, I'm in safe mode and it's saying there are no audio drivers installed at all...

Well that's probably because I gave you bad advice. I told you to boot in safemode because no non-essential software runs on startup in safemode. I THOUGHT drivers would be considered "essential" enough to run on startup, but I guess not..... Which should have been obvious because your video card drivers don't run in safemode, which is why it looks like Windows 98.

I don't know if there's a way to start up your drivers manually in safemode, but if that's a possibility then you might want to try that. The point is to see if your driver even works right when it's isolated and not being conflicted with by the other programs you've got installed. The alternative would be uninstalling or stopping all your programs in Task Manager... idk

There might be a problem in the audio of your pc, you should take it to the place you bought it and explain your situation.
