Atm these are my current specs:

    Intel i5 3570k @ 3.40 GHz
    Corsair Vengeance ram 2x4GB sticks
    EVGA GTX 770 superclocked
    1tb HDD

I can play BF4 maxed out at like 80fps, however when I record it can drop to 25fps. I barely go below 70 fps without recording. Is it my HDD bottlenecking?

Are you using fraps? I have a high end desktop as well and whenever I used fraps Counter Strike started lagging terribly, other software didn't seem to do that.

Fraps is part of the reason, but if you want to record while playing on the same computer, you're going to need two hard drives to cut resource usage. Install the game on one hard drive and record the game play on the other.

TFS there are actually two things you can do.

You need a second drive (it doesn't matter if what type of drive it is) just to take load off of reading and writing at the same time (I found this out with FRAPs) myself.

The other thing you could do - which I still have yet to try myself. NVidia has just released their own video recording software - it's call shadowplay. I'm looking through it now and it's showing it can record 1080p @ 60FPS in H.264... The only thing is that it can only record in (at max) 10 minute intervals - that's still 3.8GB.
