I'm from Australia and I would have to say both codes of rugby are much better than American Football. In rugby the hits are just as hard, much more frequent and they are not wearing padding + helmets. Rugby is also much more enterrtaining to watch and play.

Not as bad since you have so much protection from the hits.

Rugby is more physical, and probably better to watch in my opinion.

I used to play tighthead prop before I got injured. Loved it :)

Rugby demands a tough, intelligent and fit player for every position.
Football has a few intelligent players, a few fit players, and a few tough players, but very few teams have that all stacked into each position.

Rugby hits can hurt a lot more, of course depending on whose hitting you. The problem is the wrap slows down the hit a bit, but still hits are bone crunching.

Football if hurts to get hit in a few places but most of the hits taken aren't that painful just kind of a shock. In less you get your hand caught in someones face mask or you get hit in the knee caps the hits won't hurt that much. (of course that depends on whose doing the hitting I suppose)
