thoughts on talon

was thinking of purchasing talon as he looks like a fun champ to play what are your thoughts on him as a top or mid laner
or is zed the better pick

 

Talon is pretty strong right now. He was way out of control when S3 hit and the weeklong Black Cleaver stack frenzy was in force, but after that Riot took a look at Talon and fixed a massive bug while tuning some of his burst down to account for it.

However... Talon isn't very common these days because there's champions, like Zed, that perform his role better in all aspects. If you can't/won't play Zed but want someone similar in play style and strength, Talon is worth looking at; both are typically built as squishy AD assassins that (like Akali) rely on snowballing kills in lane to overpower the enemy ADC/squishies in a teamfight before their lack of defense sends them to their doom. Keep in mind that with that high-risk high-reward playstyle is that if you or your team gets behind before teamfights roll around, an underfed Zed or Talon is mostly useless. They're basically just big slabs of damage.

 

yer well i am looking for a champ to spend 6300 ip on and fizz looks pretty fun to play as well as talon, i am not personally a fan of kha zix as he relys pretty strongly on his team imo

 

Go with Fizz. I just bought him yesterday with my 6300 IP too.
He's really OP and personally to me, he's fun to play with his Playful/Trickster.

 

I have talon and fizz but not zed. I personally love talon as a champion because he counters most AP mids. Its very easy to start destroying the enemy mid with combos starting from level 3

 

Talon is a good mid pick, but he's not even a decent pick for a top lane.
He counters almost every AP champ but he's too squishy to play him as a top laner.
About Zed - Zed is a freaking strong champ.
He's awesome to play at top/mid/jungle. His level 6 nuke is so damn good.
I'd recommend for you Zed instead of Talon.

 

i went with zed and have been playing him as jungler and well his ganks are more like bombs in the fact that from level 6 on the target goes from 100-0 hp

 

If you play Zed jungle, just make sure you coordinate with your team to have a tanky engage. The meta is preferring tanky engagers in the jungle, such as J4 or Volibear, due to the lower GP output. That doesn't mean you can't play an assassin jungle, just make sure you can have someone else cover the role.

 

Talon is fun in my opinion and also does lots of damage. However, he can't do much after bursting someone down in a team fight.

 

Can't do much? all you have to do is burst down the adc and escape with your ult. Games over.

 

I have around 3-5k games on talon alone, and I gotta say he really is at his worst right now. They nerfed his mana a year ago, they then nerfed his R and Q, they nerfed brutalizer and BT and LW. They took out green potion. They added the seekers armguard which makes it 10x as easy to counter him now. In my honest opinion I would say he is one of the worst and hardest to play champs in the game right now... ;(

 

I'll chime back in to completely agree with Karisuchan. The Seeker's Armguard really helped bring AP casters back to the midlane, since it gives them both AP and Armor and builds into a core item for most APC champions. That update also came with a nerf to the Black Cleaver. AD mids are still effective, but there's a reason most pros choose AP for the mid line at the time being. Zed and Kha'Zix get played fairly often for AD caster champions, but honestly I've been seeing them fairly often in the top lane as opposed to mid.
